Full Job Description

Virginia iSpine Physicians, PC is a well-established Interventional Spine & Musculoskeletal practice in Central Virginia. We are seeking a full-time Certified Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant to join our growing team.

Our mission is to help patients reconnect with what is meaningful to them. Our team specializes in caring for patients with painful spine and musculoskeletal conditions and takes a team-based approach to improving function and quality of life. We offer multiple service lines, including interventional spine procedures, on-site anesthesia services, acupuncture, EMG testing, and clinical research.

Our practice is located in a modern facility just off Route 288 and Patterson Avenue.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented healthcare professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and enjoys both hands-on patient care and phlebotomy.

This position will provide support throughout the patient experience, including rooming, clinical procedures, venipuncture and blood draws, pre- and post-procedure care, physician assistance, and participation in clinical research activities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and blood draws accurately and safely
Assist with IV placement and IV-related clinical tasks
Properly identify, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens
Room and triage patients, obtaining vital signs and relevant medical history
Assist physicians and clinical staff during patient visits and procedures
Provide pre- and post-procedure patient care and monitoring
Perform EKGs and other routine clinical tasks
Maintain sterile technique and follow infection-control protocols
Provide compassionate, professional patient care and help patients feel comfortable throughout their visit
Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the EMR
Assist with procedure and surgical scheduling as needed
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical spaces
Assist with inventory management and ordering of clinical supplies
Participate in ongoing clinical research trials, including:
- Blood draws and specimen collection- EKGs- Patient screening calls- Clinical trial-related procedures- Serving as an unblinded or blinded Medical Assistant when required by study protocol- Follow all clinical, regulatory, HIPAA, and research protocols
Work collaboratively with physicians, NPs, MAs, research staff, and administrative team membersPreferred Skills & Experience
Strong venipuncture/phlebotomy experience
IV placement experience
Experience with sterile technique
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated phlebotomy experience
Knowledge of medical terminology
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Current CPR/BLS certification
Previous experience in an outpatient, procedural, orthopedic, pain management, or specialty practice is a plus
Clinical research experience is a plus
