Security Lock & Key is seeking an experienced Locksmith / Door & Hardware Technician based in or around Richmond, Virginia to support our growing customer base throughout the Richmond area and Eastern Virginia.
We are looking for a qualified technician who can work independently, troubleshoot the complete opening, identify the root cause of a problem, and provide and implement the right solution for the customer.
This is not an apprentice position. We are looking for someone with professional field experience who takes pride in their craft and wants to build a career with a growing, family-oriented company.
This position will dispatch from home in a fully stocked and equipped company service van. You will handle service calls independently while remaining an integral part of the Security Lock & Key team and working alongside our other technicians on larger jobs and projects.

We are looking for a technician who understands that the problem isn't always the part that appears to be broken.
You should be able to evaluate the complete opening - including the door, frame, hinges, hardware, closer, operator, and related components - determine the root cause of the problem, develop the appropriate solution, and complete the repair or installation correctly.
What We're Looking For
- Professional locksmith, commercial door, or architectural hardware experience
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to diagnose problems involving the complete door opening
- Experience installing and repairing commercial door hardware
- Ability to work independently and manage daily service responsibilities
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, organized, and accountable
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel throughout the service area and assist with larger projects as needed
- Experience with automatic door operators, automatic sliding doors, electrified hardware, access control, doors and frames, and Division 8 work is a plus.
- AAADM certification is a plus but is not required. We can provide AAADM training and certification for the right technician.
