Job Title: Freight Truck Driver
Job Summary:
A Freight Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting goods and materials between warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and customer locations. The driver ensures deliveries are completed on time while complying with all traffic laws, company policies, and transportation regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial trucks safely to transport freight to designated locations.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
- Load and unload freight when required, ensuring cargo is properly secured.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Complete delivery documentation, logbooks, and electronic records accurately.
- Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or delays promptly.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding delivery status and schedule changes.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle.
- Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Qualifications:

- Defensive driving certification.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and ensure timely arrivals at multiple destinations.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques or forklift equipment, ensuring cargo integrity and safety during transport.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) or dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation as required by FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or unforeseen delays to maintain smooth operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving on route driving or over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Demonstrated ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures for freight, including freight loading/unloading techniques for various types of cargo such as flatbed loads or tanker shipments.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools to navigate efficiently across regions.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards related to truck driving.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with automobile transportation is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high safety standards in all aspects of trucking operations.
