Sheltering Arms Institute is seeking a patient safety attendant to join our team. The patient safety attendant participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, ensures the patient environment is free obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and harm to the patient. The patient safety attendant will also monitor the patient's physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes in status promptly while maintaining direct line of sight on the patient at all times.

Compensation

$16.00 - $22.00 per hour
Night or weekend shifts are eligible for shift differential pay. Differential rates vary by shift hours and are added to the base hourly rate.
This range reflects our commitment to pay equity and market‑competitive compensation.
Final compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

Maintains a direct line of sight on patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
Accompanies patient and ensures patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
Establishes a safe, risk-free patient environment by applying knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. Performs room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
Monitors patient’s physical and emotional condition. Reports any changes in status promptly while maintaining direct line of sight on the patient.
Intervenes as needed to prevent patient from harming self or others. Seeks immediate assistance for escalating incidents.
Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient’s right to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.

Education and Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
HCP CPR
One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Previous De-escalation Training preferred
