A Day in the Life

As a Laboratory Technician II (Wet Chem) in our Richmond, VA lab , you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $21.00 to $24.00 , commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule: Thursday - Sunday, 10-hour shift (10am to 8:30pm) NOTE: Training will be Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5pm before moving over to shift work.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

Preparation of samples for analysis
Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
Sample preparation
Determining the volume of samples
Cleaning of laboratory glassware
Maintaining clean laboratory areas
Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
Perform instrumental analysis of samples
Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and other policies
Comply with Onterris Health and Safety Plan
Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.

Requirements/Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred
1-2 years of experience working in a lab
Understanding of physical and chemical principles underlying why procedures are specified the way they were for each method with which they work.

Preferred Skills:

Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
Strong attention to detail
Ability to write correspondence and reports
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
