Full Job Description

Fortress Pool Service is at a key growth and inflection point. We’ve built a strong foundation and growing customer base, and now we’re looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of our service division and scale it into a high-performing, professionally run operation.

This is not a corporate management role, where you inherit rigid systems and limited authority. This is an entrepreneurial leadership opportunity that is both operational and strategic.

You will work directly with ownership, have real decision making authority, and play a central role in shaping how the business operates and grows. If you ever wanted to run a service business like it is your own, this is that opportunity.

Most experienced service managers in this industry hit a ceiling. They’re responsible for results, but don’t have real control over decisions, systems, or how the business evolves.

This role is different.

You’ll actually run the operation
Not just manage it. You’ll have full ownership over hiring, scheduling, routing, and day-to-day decisions. No constant second-guessing or layers of approval.

You’ll have a direct line to ownership

You’ll work side-by-side with the founders, not buried under corporate structure. Good ideas get implemented quickly.You won’t be a small piece of a large machine. Your decisions will directly drive revenue growth, team performance, and customer retention.As the operation grows, more routes, more customers, higher efficiency, you share in that success. This is a role where strong operators can materially improve their income over time.This isn’t a fully built, locked-in system. It’s a strong foundation that needs the right leader to shape it into a top-tier operation.The Role

The General Manager will own the entire service division, with full responsibility for operations, team performance, customer experience, and profitability.

Your job is to build a service organization that is:

· Efficient and well-structured

· Consistent in service quality

· Scalable across seasons and growth phases

· Financially disciplined and profitable

· You’ll work closely with ownership

This role comes with real authority:

You will own hiring decisions, scheduling structure, and day-to-day operations
You will implement systems and process improvements
You will lead the team with clear accountability and decision-making authority

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Own all day-to-day service operations, including routes, scheduling, and field execution
Design and optimize routes to improve density, reduce drive time, and increase revenue per route
Lead capacity planning and seasonal ramp-up (staffing, training, route expansion)
Establish structure and consistency in how work is scheduled and completed

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and manage a team of 5–15+ field technicians
Hire, onboard, and train new team members as the business grows
Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to performance standards
Improve technician productivity and efficiency over time
Build a professional, accountable, and team-oriented culture

Technical Oversight

Maintain high standards for water chemistry, equipment performance, and service quality
Act as the escalation point for complex service issues
Reduce callbacks and repeat service issues through better processes and training
Standardize best practices across maintenance and repairs

Customer Experience

Own customer satisfaction and retention across the service division
Handle escalations and ensure issues are resolved quickly and professionally
Improve communication, reliability, and overall service experience
Proactively identify and address churn risks

Systems & Process Improvement

Evaluate and improve operational workflows, tools, and systems
Implement structure around scheduling, dispatch, and job tracking
Ensure consistent use of software (Pool360 or similar, CRM, scheduling tools)
Build processes that support long-term scalability

Financial & Performance Management

Own service division performance and profitability
Track and improve key metrics, including:
Revenue per route
Technician efficiency and output
Callback rates and service quality issues
Customer retention
Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and margins

Growth & Scaling

Build the operational foundation required to scale the service business
Expand routes, grow the customer base, and increase service capacity
Identify and remove operational bottlenecks
Help shape the long-term growth strategy of the service division

What We’re Looking For

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, for someone who can step in with credibility and take ownership immediately.

5–10+ years in pool service/maintenance operations (not construction-only experience)
Proven experience managing field service teams (5–15+ technicians preferred)
Strong expertise in water chemistry, pool systems, and equipment troubleshooting
Demonstrated success managing routes, scheduling, and seasonal demand
Experience improving systems, processes, and operational efficiency
Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold a team accountable
Customer-facing experience, including handling escalations
Comfortable using software tools (Pool360 or similar, CRM, scheduling platforms)
Organized, decisive, and results-oriented

Compensation & Incentives

Base Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 (depending on experience)

Performance Bonus: Tied to revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer retention

Long-Term Upside: Meaningful opportunity to grow with the company and participate in scaling the business
