Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain/Spiritual Counselor and Bereavement Counselor to provide spiritual support, guidance, and comfort to individuals and families facing life’s most challenging moments. In this vital role, you will serve as a spiritual resource, offering pastoral counseling, bereavement support, and religious leadership within a faith-based organization committed to holistic care. Your work will help foster hope, resilience, and peace for those navigating terminal illness, loss, or spiritual crises. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives through empathetic listening, spiritual guidance, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

Provide spiritual counseling and pastoral care to patients, families, and staff dealing with terminal illness, grief, or spiritual distress.
Facilitate bereavement support groups and individual sessions to help clients process loss and develop coping strategies.
Offer religious leadership by conducting worship services, prayer sessions, and religious rites aligned with organizational faith traditions.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate spiritual care into overall treatment plans and ensure holistic support.
Deliver engaging public speaking presentations on topics such as grief management, spiritual growth, or religious studies at community events or organizational functions.
Develop educational materials and lead workshops on biblical theology, religious teachings, or crisis intervention techniques.
Mentor staff and volunteers in providing compassionate care while managing conflicts or crises with sensitivity and professionalism.

Qualifications

Proven experience working as a clergyperson or spiritual counselor within a nonprofit faith-based organization or hospice setting.
Strong background in pastoral theology, Christian counseling, and religious studies with a focus on biblical theology.
Exceptional communication skills for effective public speaking, teaching religious concepts, and providing crisis intervention.
Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse communities with sensitivity and respect for different spiritual backgrounds.
Skilled in event planning, conflict management, mentoring, and crisis management to support individuals during difficult times.
Knowledge of terminal illness counseling techniques and bereavement support best practices.
Excellent writing skills for developing educational content and documentation of care activities.
