Yampah Mountain High School Special Education Advisor
General Description of the Role
Advisors provide direct instruction and case management to guide each student to create a personalized learning plan for graduation or to meet goals on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and to access the varied options of the menu-driven curriculum. An Advisor has dual responsibility for supporting students toward both academic and affective achievement. Advisors are assigned to students upon enrollment and work directly with the student through graduation, supporting the development of relationships between faculty and students.
Qualifications Required
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Licensure: Secondary endorsement in required subject area.

Contract Days: 164 / 9 hour days + 2/ .5 days for parent teacher conferences
Compensation: Professional Salary Matrix
Status: Exempt
Working Conditions: Heavy lifting; management and de-escalation of students with aggressive behaviors

Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to this Job
- Actively participate in developing an RTI model classroom in an alternative, experience-based school, including use of appropriate research-based interventions to address student needs
- Conduct appropriate assessments, including all state required assessments and individual progress monitoring needs
- Develop and implement effective, grade-level curriculum and instructional strategies integrating skills and content and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), founded in the Colorado Academic standards
- Monitor student IEPs, academic work inside and outside of the school, life skills, work, and social emotional growth
- Develop and maintain a system of Positive Behavioral Support in the program
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Provide guidance and counseling to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community
- Supervise Para-Educators as assigned
- Other duties as assigned

Pay: $47,910.00 - $71,006.00 per year
