New to Insurance? We'll Help You Get Licensed.

Most agencies won't look at you without a license already in hand. We're different. If you have the right service instincts, a professional attitude, and the drive to pass the Property & Casualty exam on your own, we'll give you the opportunity and reimburse your licensing expenses. You just need to earn it before your first day.

This isn't a "we'll train you from scratch on everything" situation. We're looking for people with real customer service experience who want to build a career in insurance — not someone looking for any job that'll take them. If that's you, keep reading.

Why Now

Allstate just repriced auto insurance in New Jersey and is more competitive than it's been in years. Our phones are busy, our existing book needs attention, and we're investing in the team to keep up. We're hiring to fill this seat in the next 30–45 days.

Compensation

Base salary plus monthly service-related commissions ($57,000–$62,000 expected first year, once licensed and producing) 401(k) with company match Health insurance Paid time off and paid personal days Paid continuing education and license renewal going forward Ongoing training and mentorship once you start Exam and licensing costs reimbursed on your first day, once licensed and on the team

About the Role

We're hiring a Customer Service Representative for our Fort Lee office to support our existing personal lines clients — auto, home, umbrella, and related coverages. Your day is built around taking care of people: handling policy changes, renewals, billing questions, coverage reviews, and making sure clients feel taken care of every time they call.

There's a cross-sell component — when you're helping a client and notice they're missing coverage, flagging it is part of doing the job well. But this is not a cold-calling or commission-only sales role. You'll have a base salary, benefits, and a structured Monday-through-Friday schedule.

How the Licensing Works

You don't need a P&C license to apply or interview. Here's the process:

You apply and we interview you based on your experience, attitude, and fit If we extend an offer, it's contingent on you earning your New Jersey P&C license You self-study and take the exam — most candidates complete this in 2–3 weeks Your first day in the office is the day you're licensed and ready to work We reimburse your exam and licensing expenses on your first day, once licensed and on the team

We're looking for people who hear "go pass this exam" and come back in two to three weeks with a license number.

FAQ

Do I need insurance experience? No. You need strong customer service experience — ideally phone-based or in a regulated environment. Health insurance call center, bank branch, medical billing, pharmacy tech, auto dealership F&I, or another insurance agency are all backgrounds we'd be interested in. Insurance knowledge we can teach.

Why does the license have to be done before day one? At Allstate, an unlicensed person can't perform the actual work of this role — it's a carrier and state regulatory requirement. That's why we're upfront about the deadline.

Is this remote or hybrid? Neither. This is a full-time, in-office role at our Fort Lee location. Monday through Friday, standard business hours.

Is this a sales job in disguise? No. You'll identify cross-sell opportunities during service conversations, and those are rewarded, but your day is built around servicing the existing book. If you want a pure sales role, we have producer positions open — ask about those instead.

Is there room to grow? Yes. We promote based on performance and reliability. Strong CSRs can move into senior service roles, team leads, or sales producer seats over time.
