The Janet Goeske Foundation & Senior Center is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and highly organized Senior Resource Advisor to join our growing team. The Janet Goeske Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the quality of life for adults 50 and better through health, wellness, education, social connection, advocacy, and support services. We believe every senior deserves dignity, purpose, and access to the resources they need to age successfully.

Position Summary

The Senior Resource Advisor serves as a trusted advocate and resource for older adults by providing guidance, education, referrals, and individualized support. This position assists seniors in navigating healthcare, housing, benefits, legal resources, and other aging-related services while also helping strengthen our volunteer program and community partnerships.

Essential Responsibilities

Meet one-on-one with seniors to assess needs and connect them with appropriate community resources.
Assist seniors with questions regarding Medicare, Medi-Cal, housing, long-term care insurance, advance directives, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, elder abuse, transportation, caregiving, and other senior-related concerns.
Maintain accurate client records, appointment logs, and activity reports.
Research and remain current on local, state, and federal programs and legislation affecting older adults.
Build and maintain relationships with community agencies and service providers.
Maintain an up-to-date resource library and referral database.
Recruit, screen, orient, train, and support volunteers assisting with senior services.
Assist with volunteer recognition and retention efforts.
Participate in outreach events, health fairs, workshops, and community presentations.
Assist with special events, publications, and organizational initiatives.
Provide front desk and administrative support as needed.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Canva.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Valid California Driver's License.
Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Human Resources, Case Management, Psychology, Gerontology, Public Health, or a closely related field.
One or more years of experience in senior services, social services, case management, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, or a related field.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, aging services, or community resources is highly desirable.
Experience recruiting, training, or managing volunteers is a plus.

Work Environment

Local travel within the community may be required.
Occasional evenings, weekends, and special events may be required.
Position requires sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and interacting with the public throughout the day.

Compensation & Benefits

$25.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
