Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will coordinate surgical procedures by managing patient appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Your proactive approach will help streamline surgical workflows, enhance patient experience, and support clinical teams in delivering exceptional care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a busy medical environment where efficiency and patient service are paramount.

Responsibilities

Schedule surgical procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and health insurance policies, to confirm patient eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled surgeries
Review and process medical documentation, including clinical notes, care plans, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and other relevant medical records to ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
Communicate effectively with patients via phone or in person to provide appointment details, answer questions, and facilitate intake procedures while maintaining professional phone etiquette
Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate pre-operative assessments, prepare necessary documentation, and ensure all required forms are completed accurately
Maintain meticulous records of scheduling activities, insurance verifications, and documentation review in accordance with health information management standards
Support front desk operations by managing multi-line phone systems, filing medical records, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced office environment

Qualifications

Proven experience in medical scheduling within a clinical or hospital setting; dental clinic experience is a plus
Strong knowledge of EMR systems
Comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, ICD coding standards, and Medicare regulations
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Prior experience with insurance verification, medical administrative support, and office management preferred
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare terminology is essential for maintaining compliance and data security
