We Are Seeking A Line cook

Bacaro Primo is an Italian-inspired neighborhood restaurant in Kansas City, rooted in simple, thoughtful cooking, a strong sense of place, and warm, welcoming hospitality. Drawing influence from traditional bacari and coastal Italian dining, the menu highlights seasonal ingredients, handmade pastas, and a focused wine and cocktail program. Bacaro Primo is built around a collaborative team culture and an approach to hospitality that is both refined and approachable.

Scope & General Purpose: The Line Cook is responsible for executing dishes with consistency, precision, and attention to detail while supporting the daily operations of the kitchen. This role works closely with the Sous Chefs and Chef de Cuisine to maintain the highest standards of food quality, safety, and organization.

Line Cooks are expected to take ownership of their station, maintain a clean and efficient workspace, and contribute to a collaborative kitchen culture. This role plays an essential part in delivering a consistent and high-quality guest experience through disciplined preparation, communication, and teamwork.

Schedule: Full-Time/Part-Time, varying schedule, across Bacaro’s business hours

Management Structure: Reports to Chef de Cuisine & General Manager

Core Responsibilities:

Station Preparation & Execution

Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station for service
Prepare and execute menu items according to restaurant recipes, standards, and plating specifications
Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation during service
Communicate clearly with chefs and team members to ensure smooth service flow
Maintain strong awareness of ticket times, pacing, and kitchen communication during service

Prep & Kitchen Organization

Complete daily prep lists efficiently and accurately
Assist with prep production to ensure the kitchen is properly stocked for service
Properly label, date, and store food products according to food safety standards
Help maintain organized walk-ins, dry storage, and prep areas
Follow established systems for prep, production, and station maintenance

Food Safety & Sanitation

Maintain strict adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
Ensure safe food handling, storage, and temperature control practices at all times
Maintain a clean workstation and participate in regular kitchen cleaning responsibilities

Teamwork & Kitchen Culture

Work collaboratively with fellow cooks, dish team, and front of house staff to ensure successful service
Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude in the kitchen
Be receptive to feedback and coaching from chefs and leadership

Requirements:

Strong attention to detail and consistency in food preparation
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workstation
Willingness to learn and grow within a professional kitchen environment
Reliability, punctuality, and accountability to the team
A positive, upbeat, and energetic attitude – leading by example
Comfortable standing/walking for 8+ hours, and be able to bend, push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs.
