Full Job Description

PsyGenics, Inc., a rapidly growing service provider specializing in serving the developmentally disabled is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Outpatient Therapist. An integral part of PsyGenics Team, the Outpatient Therapist is responsible for ensuring all service needs of a consumer are met as well as providing assurance of a Person-Centered Plan, monitoring established goals and implementation of various treatment plans in conjunction with support staff.

Qualifications

Must possess a master’s degree in social or behavioral health, be fully licensed* in the State of Michigan in good standing as well as meet the criteria for a Children’s Mental Health Specialist, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional and Qualified Mental Health Professional. Person must have police and DHS clearance. Must have a minimum of one-year post graduate experience working with children and adults with Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness or persons with a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Additional requirements include: working knowledge of the DSM-V or current manual, a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to engage and maintain clinical relationships with families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other providers, effective interpersonal communication skills, the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.

Position Summary

The Outpatient Therapist is responsible for setting regular appointments with consumers, establishing positive and trusting relationships, continuously assessing a consumer’s needs and providing therapeutic interventions driven by approved treatment guidelines. The Outpatient Therapist is also responsible for the development of measurable and objective treatment goals and plans in accordance with Person Centered Planning, thorough assessments, individual counseling, parent training, family training, behavior modifications plans, and crisis intervention.

Specific Responsibilities

Conduct initial and annual assessments of consumers
Participate in the person-centered planning process
Implement various treatments and protocols to provide guidance and appropriately address consumer situations and needs
Continually assess consumer situations and provide the proper ongoing treatments
Educate and involve family members or other loved ones in the treatment process when necessary
Document and maintain appropriate written records as necessary for professional practices as defined in the policy and procedure manual
When required, refer consumers to outside sources or agencies that can better address their specific needs
Maintain the strictest confidentiality of each consumer situation
Maintain all required licenses and credentials
Monitor implementation of treatment plan with all team members, consumer and family
Provide support services to individuals and families both in office or in home as needed
Represent PsyGenics Inc. in the community, including but not limited to participating in community outreach and education
Act as an advocate on behalf of consumer
Adhere to required PsyGenics productivity standards
Perform similar or related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Masters degree in Psychology or Social Work from an accredited college or university.
LLPC, LPC, LLMSW, LMSW, LP, LLP or TLLP licensure with the State of Michigan in good standing.
Police and DHS clearance.
Experience with persons with developmental disabilities and/or experience with persons with a Traumatic Brain Injury.
Experience with persons with serious mental health issues.
Must meet criteria for appropriate credentialing as a Children’s Mental Health Professional, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional and a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
