Description:

The Assistant Controller will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions for several of the Firm’s fund structures. The Firm is a dynamic high growth organization which currently includes 25+ private investment funds across multiple domiciles and various retail funds such as business development companies (“BDCs”) and real estate investment trust (“REIT”). We are seeking a candidate to join our growing team with a proven ability to work collaboratively with groups across an organization and with outside service providers to direct appropriate information flow and effectively manage reporting deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:

Manage the preparation and review of quarterly financial reporting and investor capital statements for certain private funds, ensuring both internal and external deadlines are met.
Oversee the preparation of accounting support packages and coordination with the 3rd party fund administrator for certain private funds. Activities include developing expense budgets, reviewing account reconciliations, and performing flux analyses over key performance metrics.
Perform manager level review and sign off on the monthly/quarterly trial balances prepared by the 3rd party fund administrator and identify and resolve issues
Perform manager level review over disclosure support schedules prepared by the 3rd party fund administrator
Prepare quarterly fund performance summaries, which include an executive summary of key performance metrics for the period.
Assist with investor reporting and coordinate the capital call and distribution process with the 3rd party fund administrator
Coordinate with the operations team to ensure accuracy of Wall Street Office system data utilized in accounting support packages, focusing on significant or unusual transactions
Oversee the preparation of support schedules for tax reporting and compliance
Develop talent and continue to drive efficiencies through process improvements
Assist with training and management of the fund accounting team
Ad-hoc internal and external reporting

Requirements:

Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, CPA is a plus
Ideal candidate background would include:

o Experience in public accounting and/or professional services with client deadlines

o Progressive experience within a company

o Experience with private & retail funds

o Experience with fixed income products; private credit is a plus

o SEC reporting exposure with public investment vehicles is a plus

o Strong ability / knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions

Previous exposure to Wall Street Office bank loan system is a plus
A detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys a dynamic fast-paced work environment at a growing company

Physical Requirements

Stationary Work: Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer work, phone communication, and administrative tasks.
Movement: Occasionally moves about the office to access files, supplies, meeting rooms, or other work areas.
Reaching/Positioning: Occasionally positions self to access shelves, organize materials, or retrieve office supplies.
Computer and Equipment Use: Regularly operates a computer and other standard office productivity equipment (e.g., phone, printer, copier).
Communication: Able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through electronic methods as required to perform essential job duties.

Compensation

It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $150,000-$165,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
