Responsible for providing operational support for multiple shop and lab facilities in the department. Performs preventative maintenance for systems, inventory control, material and supplies ordering, and storage and handling of hazardous materials.
What a day of a Trade and Industry Lab Technician looks like:
Controls and disposes of hazardous materials within a lab environment.
Utilizes technical expertise to identify and purchase appropriate equipment, tools, supplies, and materials for the assigned programs.
Monitors preventative maintenance schedules for equipment, machines, and facilities.
Inspects equipment and machinery for safe operation. Reports any observed problems to supervisor.
Maintains records for performance, out-of-service, and in-service facilities, plants, and equipment.
Coordinates, installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment, and fabricates metal parts and tools.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations.
Responds to complex inquiries from all levels of employees or external sources regarding a variety of questions, such as clarification of College or campus policy and procedures.
Assists with preparing activity and incident reports.
Acquires knowledge of other staff duties and serves as a backup as necessary.
Maintains and reviews inventory records. Includes all related reporting.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $21.44 hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
