The City of Roanoke is seeking a creative, strategic, and detail-oriented Marketing Coordinator to support PARK Roanoke, the City’s parking authority. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing marketing, branding, and outreach initiatives that promote PARK Roanoke’s services, programs, facilities, and customer-focused initiatives. The Marketing Coordinator develops and distributes print and digital marketing materials, manages content across multiple platforms, evaluates marketing effectiveness, and supports public engagement efforts to enhance awareness, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
This role works collaboratively with internal departments, vendors, and community partners to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with City branding standards.

Marketing & Communications

Coordinate and implement marketing and publicity efforts for PARK Roanoke programs, facilities, projects, and initiatives.

Develop, design, and distribute marketing materials including brochures, flyers, signage, banners, advertisements, newsletters, and digital content.

Maintain and update PARK Roanoke’s website and digital platforms to ensureaccurate,timely, and customer-friendly information.

Support branding consistency across all PARK Roanoke communications in alignment with City standards.
Campaign Development & Evaluation

Collaborate with PARK Roanoke leadership and staff to develop targeted marketing strategies for parking programs, enforcement changes, customer service initiatives, and capital projects.

Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and outreach efforts; track metrics and recommend improvements.

Monitor marketing trends and assess their impact on public engagement and service delivery.
Budget, Contracts & Resources

Assistwith developing andmonitoringthe marketing budget for PARK Roanoke.

Coordinate procurement of marketing-related supplies and services, including working with vendors and obtaining quotes or bids asrequired.

Assistwith the preparation and administration of marketing-related contracts and agreements.
Public & Stakeholder Engagement

Respond orally and in writing to inquiries from the public, businesses, and stakeholdersregardingPARK Roanoke services and initiatives.

Support outreach efforts with downtown partners, businesses, event organizers, and community organizations.

Represent PARK Roanoke on committees, advisory groups, or at community events as assigned.

Visit businesseslocatedin the Downtown Business District on a weekly basis toestablishbest parking options for customers and employees.

Tofacilitatethe recommendations of the current and any upcoming parking studies.
Administrative & Support Functions

Develop and recommend marketing-related policies, procedures, and standards; ensure compliance with City guidelines.

Coordinate supply and equipmentneedsrelated to marketing activities.

Assistwith special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise seasonal, temporary employees, interns, or volunteers involved in marketing or outreach activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of marketing principles, branding, public relations, and outreach strategies.
- Ability to plan, design, and evaluate marketing campaigns across print and digital platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in desktop publishing, graphic design, and content management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or public outreach; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with desktop publishing and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign or comparable tools).

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in public sector, transportation, parking, or municipal services marketing.
- Experience managing websites, social media, and digital engagement platforms.
- Knowledge of accessibility, public information standards, or government branding requirements.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, or the ability to obtain one upon employment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, reports, and documents. Ability to respond to inquiries orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present news releases. Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups.
