job summary:

Our clients in custom modular infrastructure protection, is seeking a collaborative Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary technical design and field service teams at our Roanoke, VA headquarters. Serving as the right-hand partner to the Engineering Director, you will translate strategic vision into daily execution, overseeing a diverse group of electrical designers, structural designers, and field technicians to ensure custom shelter projects transition seamlessly from engineering concept to factory assembly and field deployment. This full-time role offers a competitive salary plus excellent ESOP benefits, and it requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management alongside over five years of progressive experience in commercial construction, prefabrication, or industrial manufacturing, including at least two to three years in a supervisory capacity.

responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary team consisting of electrical designers, structural designers, and field service technicians.

Act as the primary deputy to the engineering director, managing daily operations, strategic projects, and client meetings in their absence.

Oversee the design and development of custom concrete and metal modular structures to ensure compliance with building codes and customer specifications.

Coordinate engineering design schedules and project pipelines while managing the dispatch and resource tracking for field service personnel.

Bridge communication between the engineering office, manufacturing facilities, and field sites to resolve complex design-build and structural issues.

Review integrated electrical, HVAC, and power configurations while collaborating with production and quality control teams to optimize manufacturing methodologies.

Validate rigging plans, foundation drawings, and on-site assembly requirements to support field technicians and drive continuous engineering improvements.
