Full Job Description

Human Resources Manager (HR Manager) – Employee Relations | Manufacturing

Location: Rochester, MN
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time

Lead employee relations and HR strategy for a manufacturing site in Rochester, MN. Benchmark is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to drive compliance, workforce performance, and leader effectiveness in a fast-paced production environment.

Position Summary

This role combines strategic HR partnership with tactical execution, supporting leaders and co-workers while ensuring a compliant, consistent, and effective workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations and Leadership

Lead employee relations strategy, investigations, and conflict resolution
Provide guidance to leaders on performance management, policy interpretation, accountability, and workplace issues
Act as a resource to leaders and all co-workers on HR-related matters
Drive consistent application of policies to reduce risk and improve workforce performance

Talent Support and Workforce Partnership

Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support hiring needs and workforce planning
Participate in interviews and provide input on candidate selection as needed
Support onboarding and new hire integration

Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state employment laws (including FMLA, ADA, and EEOC)
Lead disciplinary actions, up to and including termination
Develop responses to unemployment claims and participate in hearings as needed
Partner with internal or external legal counsel on employment-related matters
Conduct plant tours and audits, including attendance tracking, HR records, and policy adherence

HR Operations and Process Improvement

Administer HR programs, policies, and procedures across the site
Support development, implementation, and maintenance of personnel policies, procedures, and employee handbook
Develop department goals, objectives, systems, and process improvements aligned with business needs
Facilitate and monitor training efforts including onboarding, interviewing practices, compliance, and workplace conduct
Present HR information in employee and leadership meetings
Drive process improvements and departmental initiatives
Manage HR Administrators and Generalists

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
6+ years of HR experience required
Demonstrated experience in employee relations
Manufacturing, industrial, or operations experience preferred

Skills and Competencies

Strong communication, relationship-building, leadership, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills. Ability to influence across all levels, manage sensitive matters with discretion, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

$90,000.00 to $110,000.00 USD, plus bonus plan, 401(k), paid time off, and health, dental, and vision insurance based on scheduled hours. Compensation decisions are based on experience, skills, and business needs.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
