Plastic Injection Molding Press Operator – First Shift

Company: Elite Mold & Engineering, Inc.
Location: 51548 Filomena Drive, Shelby Township, MI 48315
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Work Location: In person

Important Experience Requirement

This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have at least one year of previous experience operating plastic injection molding presses in a manufacturing environment.

This is a press-operator position. It does not involve setting molds or developing injection molding process parameters.

The advertised hourly range is an estimate. Starting pay will be based on the candidate’s relevant injection molding, manufacturing, inspection, and press-operation experience.

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and quality-focused Plastic Injection Molding Press Operator to join our first-shift production team.

Position Summary

The Plastic Injection Molding Press Operator is responsible for safely operating injection molding presses, inspecting molded components, trimming and packaging finished parts, documenting production information, and identifying basic production or quality issues.

The successful candidate will have previous injection molding press-operation experience, strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Primary Responsibilities

Safely operate plastic injection molding presses and related production equipment.
Follow work instructions, production procedures, control plans, packaging instructions, and quality requirements.
Monitor presses and production processes for changes or abnormalities.
Visually inspect molded parts for defects such as flash, short shots, burns, contamination, color variation, and other nonconforming conditions.
Use basic gauges and inspection equipment when required.
Trim, count, label, package, and prepare finished parts according to job requirements.
Accurately record production quantities, scrap, downtime, inspection results, and other required information.
Maintain proper part identification, segregation, and lot traceability.
Stop production and notify the appropriate team member when a safety, quality, equipment, or processing problem is identified.
Address minor production issues within the operator’s training and authority.
Follow all safety rules, quality procedures, and company policies.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Support coworkers and perform other production-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

At least one year of plastic injection molding press-operation experience.
Previous experience inspecting and packaging molded plastic components.
Ability to identify common molding defects and promptly report production or quality problems.
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
Ability to accurately complete production and quality records.
Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety requirements, quality standards, and packaging instructions.
Ability to communicate production, safety, and quality concerns effectively.
Strong attention to detail.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work effectively with supervisors, technicians, quality personnel, and other production employees.
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing production requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
More than one year of injection molding press-operation experience.
Experience using basic gauges or inspection equipment.
Experience working under ISO 9001 quality procedures.
Experience with part identification, lot control, and traceability requirements.

Physical and Work Requirements

Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. These requirements include:

Standing and working at a production press for extended periods.
Performing repetitive hand and arm movements associated with handling, inspecting, trimming, and packaging parts.
Safely lifting, moving, and handling production materials within the requirements of the assigned job.
Working in a manufacturing environment where noise, operating machinery, and temperature variations may be present.
Wearing required personal protective equipment.
Working overtime or occasional weekends when production requirements make it necessary.

Full-time
First shift
Monday through Friday
7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs.

Compensation

$18.00–$20.00 per hour
Starting pay is based on relevant experience and qualifications.
