Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgical Assistant, where your expertise will directly enhance patient outcomes and support our surgical team in delivering exceptional care. In this vital role, you will assist during various surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, managing medical documentation, and providing compassionate patient care. Your proactive approach and technical skills will contribute to a smooth, efficient surgical experience for every patient. Responsibilities

Prepare surgical rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly according to infection prevention management standards.
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, managing dental and medical tools, and maintaining a clear surgical field using aseptic techniques.
Monitor and record vital signs and medical imaging as needed to support clinical assessments and ensure patient stability throughout procedures.
Manage medical records and documentation accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as DSN ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Support patient management by providing pre-operative instructions, explaining procedures clearly, and addressing patient concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Ensure all dental sterilization procedures are followed meticulously to prevent infection transmission, adhering to healthcare infection prevention protocols.
Collaborate with the dental team on chairside assisting tasks across general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry specialties.

Requirements

Proven experience in dental assisting or surgical support within a dental or healthcare setting; familiarity with dental clinic operations is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation (including 3D scanners), and medical imaging techniques relevant to oral surgery and pediatric dentistry.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as DSN for accurate documentation of medical records and coding practices.
Demonstrated understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety protocols for patients and staff.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages; experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
Knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral surgery and general dentistry; familiarity with dental instrument processing is essential.
Certification in CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred; additional certifications in medical documentation or radiography are advantageous.
