Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems in commercial construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure project budgets are realistic, competitive, and aligned with client expectations. The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This position supports Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid opportunities and works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimating process.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects exceeding $10 million.
Develop estimates for Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid projects.
Produce accurate estimates from schematic design documents.
Prepare comparative estimates based on multiple design alternatives.
Develop subcontractor scopes, negotiate pricing, and issue subcontracts.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing while negotiating buyout costs.
Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
Perform material takeoffs, prepare purchase orders, and support project controls.
Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators.
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience estimating Mechanical Piping, Plumbing, and Heavy Construction projects.
Proven success in a Hard Bid estimating environment.
Experience preparing complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects valued at $10 million or more.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, front-end specifications, and project documentation.
Experience negotiating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
HVAC ductwork estimating experience is preferred but not required.
Willingness to relocate for project assignments, if necessary.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary: $80,000 – $120,000 per year
