All About the Job
Family Concierge is partnering with a household in Brighton, New York to hire a part-time Family Assistant for three daughters, ages 7, 12, and 15. The girls are in this home on a set rotation, so your schedule is set with ample notice. The family is mainly seeking support in their morning routine, light family assistant duties during the school and work day, and a present adult for after school when the parent is working. The seven-year-old will need the most after-school support, and the older girls are mostly self-sufficient outside of transportation to activities. The family is looking for someone who is interested in a long term commitment and has demonstrated, proven experience building relationships with adolescent girls.
What You'll Do
- Prepare breakfast and keep the morning routine moving smoothly and seamlessly
- Before and after school bus handoff
- Provide safe and reliable transportation to sports, activities, appointments, work, and the occasional playdate
- Prepare dinner so the family eats between 6:00 and 6:30
- The girls' laundry, including bedding once a week
- Light tidying and organizing of bedrooms and shared spaces
- Grocery runs and occasional errands
- Light calendar management
- Transportation to activities and sports on occasional weekends as necessary
Who We're Looking For
You are comfortable being the adult in a house and supporting a younger sibling while respecting an adolescent's independence and autonomy. You are unfazed by a busy morning routine in a house with three girls, and can meaningfully guide a busy after school routine that includes homework, rides to sports and activities, and three different schedules. You are observant, respectful, and can hold a presence that quietly keeps the day moving.
Beyond that, the right fit brings:
- Real experience with school-age children and teenagers, and the judgment to know when to step in and out as necessary.
- Confident driving, your own reliable vehicle, and an excellent driving record. There is a lot of driving in this job and it is reimbursed.
- Household competence: you can get dinner going, run a load of laundry, and put a kitchen back together without being asked
- Dependable, punctual, and proactive, and comfortable carrying several priorities at once without being managed through them
- Care around food allergies. Label-reading and attention to what comes into the kitchen are part of the day.
- A genuine intention to stay at least one year
Standard for our placements: CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain), background and driving-record checks, and work authorization.
