High School Technology Instructor
(Fundamentals of Interactive Media & Web Design)
Position Summary
The High School Technology Instructor provides engaging, standards-based instruction in Fundamentals of Interactive Media and Web Design. The instructor prepares students for post-secondary education and entry-level careers in digital media, web development, graphic design, and related technology fields. Instruction emphasizes technical proficiency, creative problem-solving, digital citizenship, and career readiness skills aligned with state and industry standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
? Develop and deliver curriculum in:
? Digital media fundamentals
? Principles of design (color theory, typography, layout, UX basics)
? Web design (HTML, CSS, introductory JavaScript)
? Responsive design and accessibility standards
? Multimedia production (graphics, audio, video basics)
? Content management systems and web publishing
? Integrate real-world, project-based learning experiences.
? Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
? Incorporate emerging technologies and AI tools responsibly.
? Align lessons with state standards (e.g., NYS CTE/CDOS), ISTE standards, and industry expectations.
Classroom & Lab Management
? Maintain a safe and organized computer lab environment.
? Ensure proper use of hardware, software, and internet resources.
? Manage student digital portfolios and project submissions.
? Reinforce digital citizenship and online safety practices.
Assessment & Evaluation
? Develop formative and summative assessments.
? Provide timely, constructive feedback.
? Maintain accurate grading records and progress reports.
? Support students in developing professional portfolios.
Career & Industry Readiness
? Teach employability skills including collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
? Introduce students to careers in:
? Web Development
? Graphic Design
? UX/UI Design
? Digital Marketing
? Multimedia Production
? Coordinate internships, guest speakers, and industry partnerships when possible.
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
? Participate in department meetings and professional development.
? Collaborate with CTE coordinators, guidance counselors, and industry partners.
? Stay current with evolving web technologies and instructional best practices.
? Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Required Qualifications
? Experience in web design and digital media production
? Knowledge of:
? HTML5, CSS3
? Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent design software
? Website hosting and domain basics
? Accessibility and responsive design principles
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
? Experience teaching in a secondary CTE environment
? Experience managing student internships or work-based learning

? Starting Salary $48,500 negotiable based on experience
