Dispatcher / Load Planner / Logistics Coordinator – Rochester, NY
Location: Rochester, NY (On-site)
Salary: $55,000 – $80,000 (Based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time / Monday–Friday (8AM – 5PM EST, with after-hours emergency support as needed)
Job Description
We’re seeking a Truck Dispatcher / Load Planner / Logistics Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you’ll be the critical link between drivers, customers, and operations — ensuring freight moves on time, drivers are supported, and customers receive outstanding service.
What You’ll Do
- Source freight from existing customers, 3PLs & load boards
- Negotiate rates
- Manage 10-15 drivers
- Plan routes to maximize profitability
Key Responsibilities
- Driver Support: Serve as the main point of contact for drivers; provide pickup and delivery instructions, address concerns, manage driver schedules, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Driver Coaching: Deliver ongoing training and feedback to maintain high performance, reinforce procedures, and implement new policies as needed.
- Performance Oversight: Monitor and evaluate driver performance to ensure all standards and expectations are met.
- HOS Management: Track Hours of Service for compliance and efficiency, taking proactive measures to prevent violations.
- Load & Route Management: Plan efficient, cost-effective routes using real-time data.
- Freight Booking: Book spot market freight via DAT/broker load boards and complete broker carrier setups.
- Shipment Tracking: Monitor the progress of shipments, communicate with drivers regularly to ensure on-time delivery, provide real-time updates to planners, and resolve delivery issues promptly.
- Customer Service: Maintain strong customer relationships, providing status updates and documentation as needed.
- Problem Solving: Quickly resolve operational challenges, mechanical issues, or other disruptions in collaboration with drivers and internal teams.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation.
- Proven experience in dispatching, routing, and logistics operations.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance.
- Proficient with DAT/broker load boards and booking spot market freight
- Experience with dry van freight (reefer/temperature-controlled freight a plus).
- Experience completing broker carrier set-ups.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with dispatch/logistics software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
