Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours required
Hours: 35 hours per week, 12 months per year
Salary: $62,400 to $65,000 annually

Position Summary
The Assistant Director for Community Engagement and Career serves as the career coach for students in the School of Education and related majors and as the program manager for the Partners for Learning program.
Partners for Learning is a nationally recognized community-engaged learning program that connects Nazareth students with children, teachers, and staff at eight urban partner sites. Nazareth students serve as tutors and mentors while developing leadership, professional, and community-engagement skills.
The Assistant Director recruits, prepares, supervises, and mentors students participating in the program. The position also manages community partnerships, supports program assessment and development, and contributes to programming through the Weider Community Engagement Office.
As a career coach, the Assistant Director helps students and alumni explore career possibilities, pursue meaningful experiences, build professional relationships, and communicate their skills and experiences effectively. This position works closely with faculty, staff, community partners, and colleagues across the University to integrate career education and experiential learning into the student experience.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Partners for Learning Program Management
- Manage the Partners for Learning program budget, monitor spending, identify program needs, and develop budget proposals.
- Recruit, select, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate student workers and student leaders.
- Review and approve student time records and address performance or conduct concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Supervise members of the Partners Council, including student coordinators, transportation coordinators, site coordinators, and site liaisons.
- Plan and facilitate leadership-development programs for the Partners for Learning Student Leadership Council.
- Manage relationships with community partner sites and implement University and program policies.
- Conduct periodic site visits and maintain regular communication with partner representatives.
- Develop and maintain memorandums of understanding with community partners.
- Assess the effectiveness and sustainability of community partnerships and recommend changes when appropriate.
- Plan and facilitate orientations, trainings, meetings, and reflection activities for participating students.
- Help students develop leadership, employment, and community-engagement skills.
- Support the experiential-learning component of the University’s core curriculum.
- Develop program assessments, reports, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with colleagues on community-engaged scholarship and programming for faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Career Coaching and Teaching
- Develop a career-education and career-preparation strategy in partnership with faculty in the School of Education and related departments.
- Maintain a caseload of students within assigned majors and programs.
- Provide individual and group career coaching to undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.
- Coach students on résumé and cover-letter development, interview preparation, career exploration, experiential learning, and job-search strategies.
- Help students connect their interests, skills, values, academic experiences, and professional goals.
- Develop and deliver career-development curriculum for assigned majors and programs.
- Teach career-development courses and present in relevant academic courses.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate career education into academic and co-curricular programming.
- Support job fairs, workshops, orientation programs, admissions events, and other departmental or University events.
- Assist with collecting and reporting information about graduates’ post-graduation plans.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Serve as a connector among the career team, community-engagement team, School of Education, and community partners.
- Build relationships and partnerships related to education, career development, and community engagement.
- Represent the Center for Life’s Work on cross-functional teams and University initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic planning and the continued development of Center services and programs.
- Participate in professional development through conferences, webinars, and professional organizations.
- Develop conference proposals and pursue professional leadership opportunities that highlight the work of Nazareth University and the Center for Life’s Work.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education, community engagement, community development, career counseling, or a related field.
- Experience supporting students through community-engaged learning, service-learning, or experiential-learning programs.
- Experience providing career coaching.
- Experience supporting the development of college students.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to supervise and mentor college students and student leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, responsibilities, and partnerships.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to drive University minivans to community partner sites.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading community-engaged learning, service-learning, or experiential-learning programs.
- Experience providing career coaching to college students.
- Experience supervising student employees or student leaders.
- Experience developing educational programs, trainings, curricula, or assessments.
- Experience managing community partnerships and memorandums of understanding.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The Assistant Director supervises college students and student leaders participating in the Partners for Learning program.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and extensive computer use.
- Occasional lifting or moving of light objects.
- Ability to travel to community partner sites and operate University vehicles.
