Catskill Veterinary Services is seeking a high-level Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to serve as our Weekend / Night Lead. This role is the clinical and operational backbone of our hospital after hours. We are looking for a meticulous professional who leads the team by example, ensuring every patient in our ICU receives gold-standard care and that the facility is perfectly prepared for the start of morning rounds.

As the Night Lead, you set the standard for the entire shift. You are the primary advocate for our patients and the mentor for our staff.
Leadership by Example & Mentorship
- Setting the Tone: Maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence, professionalism, and a positive "can-do" attitude during the quiet hours of the night.
- Skill Development: Providing hands-on training for overnight assistants in technical skills like IV catheter placement, emergency diagnostics, and patient handling.
- Accountability: Ensuring the overnight team remains productive, focused, and supported throughout the shift.
Elite ICU Patient Care & Doctor Collaboration
- Advanced Monitoring: Managing unstable patients with multi-modal pain protocols, CRIs, and oxygen therapy.
- Clinical Accuracy: Interpreting subtle changes in vitals and escalating concerns to Doctors immediately when a patient’s status shifts.
- Critical Intervention: Leading "crash" teams and stabilization. Candidates must be CPR Certified (RECOVER) or possess a willingness to become certified within 90 days.
Compassionate Client Communication
- Patient Updates: Providing clear, empathetic phone updates to clients regarding their pet's comfort and status during the night.
Rounds Prep & Operational Flow
- Task Completion: Auditing treatments to ensure every diagnostic test, medication, and cleaning protocol is completed before the day shift arrives.
- The "Perfect Hand-off": Organizing medical records and patient summaries to ensure morning rounds are efficient and the day team is set up for success.
Shift Logistics
To support work-life balance while maintaining leadership presence, this role features a flexible mixed schedule:
- Mix of Late Swing & Overnight shifts (e.g., 4 PM – 2 AM and 8 PM – 8 AM).
2026 Compensation & Benefits
- Base Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $40.00+ (Based on experience).

Requirements
- Credentials: Active New York State LVT License.
- Experience: 2–3 years in an emergency or critical care setting with leadership potential.
- CPR Readiness: Current certification or a commitment to complete certification upon hire.
- The "Closer" Mentality: An obsession with detail, ensuring that "the list" is checked twice and patients are tucked in safely for the night.
