Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Lead Gearing Machine Set-Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the setup, calibration, and operation of complex gearing cutting machinery, ensuring precision and efficiency in production processes. Your expertise will drive quality assurance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead technical operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment dedicated to excellence in metal fabrication and machining.

Duties

Lead the setup and calibration of gearing machines, including CNC Hobs, Shapers, Broaching, and Gear Grinding equipment.
Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to ensure correct tooling and machine configurations.
Program CNC machinery using appropriate software to produce precise gear components according to specifications.
Conduct precision measurements using measuring instruments and quality inspection tools to verify part dimensions and adherence to quality standards.
Oversee safety protocol adherence during machine operation, including proper tooling handling, safety guard installation, and emergency procedures.
Train and mentor team members on machine setup procedures, safety standards, and best practices for machining operations.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime and optimize production flow.
Maintain detailed records of machine setups, adjustments, maintenance activities, and quality inspections for compliance and continuous improvement purposes.

Experience

Proven experience operating and setting up gear manufacturing machinery such as Hobs, Shapers, Broaches and Gear Grinding
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
Familiarity with machining tools, tooling selection, measurement techniques (including precision measurement instruments), and quality control processes.
Knowledge of shop math principles essential for precise measurements and calculations in manufacturing settings.
Demonstrated understanding of safety standards in production environments related to machine operation and metal fabrication.
Experience with CNC programming software and troubleshooting CNC equipment is highly desirable.
Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced environment.
