*OPHTHALMIC TRAINING PROVIDED*
Primary Responsibilities
- Greet patients with a smile when calling back from waiting room
-Document patient's exam, assessment and plan including follow up care in EMR as directed by physician
-Prepare for and assist in minor procedures as directed
-Order clinic supplies
-Sterilize and stock exam rooms
-Acquaint new patients with office procedures to which they may be exposed
-Informs patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
-Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
-Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include:
- Visual acuity
- Manual lensometry
-Confrontational visual fields
- Stereo testing
-Evaluation of motility
- Pupillary function tests
- Color plates
-Applanation tonometry
-Refractometry
-Angle assessment
- Dilation of pupils
-Contact lens evalauations
-Visual field testing
-Optic nerve scanning (OCT, HRT, GDx)
-Pachymetry
-Corneal topography
-Assists with other tasks specific to the physician's needs as a result of new technologies
-Performs duties consistent with ophthalmic scribe
-Assists physician with laser procedures
-Assists physician with minor surgery, maintaining practice standards of sterile techniques and control
Triage:
-Determines which patient to call next from the waiting room
-Escorts all patients from the waiting room for data collection
-Advises patients as to whom they will be seeing after testing and makes patients comfortable during the wait
-Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering testing sequence as required
-Provides telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care questions
-Escorts patients from the clinical area to check out station or optical department when necessary
-Communicates with the front desk staff to facilitate proper patient flow
Instrument Maintenance:
-Troubleshoots instrument repairs as necessary
-Replace bulbs in equipment
-Checks connections
-Performs archiving functions according to manufacturer recommendations
-Performs autoclaving and maintenance of instrument sterility
-Reports continued difficulty to Lead Ophthalmic Technicians

Location
Multiple office locations - Merritt Island, Suntree & Melbourne
- You will be required to work at different locations throughout the week with advanced notice.
