Full Job Description

About the Position

InSync Consulting Services is seeking an experienced Epic Billing Queue Management Technician to support daily revenue cycle operations for a healthcare organization in Roseville, CA.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Epic Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) work queues and a strong understanding of medical billing, claims processing, and revenue cycle workflows. This role will focus on monitoring, prioritizing, and resolving billing work queues to help ensure charges, claims, and account edits are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and work assigned Epic billing work queues daily, including claim edits, charge review, charge router, follow-up, denial, and credit queues.
Review and resolve claim edits and billing errors to ensure claims meet payer, state, and federal requirements.
Analyze accounts to identify the root cause of billing edits and errors.
Correct patient, guarantor, coverage, and charge-level information as needed.
Prioritize work queue volumes based on dollar amount, timely filing deadlines, account aging, and department priorities.
Identify recurring billing and claim issues and escalate systemic concerns to appropriate leadership, Epic application teams, or payer representatives.
Collaborate with coding, registration, clinical departments, billing teams, and IT/Epic teams to resolve complex accounts.
Accurately document account activity in Epic using appropriate account notes and activity codes.
Identify opportunities to improve work queue rules, routing logic, and billing workflows.
Assist with testing Epic upgrades, work queue changes, and new billing edits as needed.
Meet established productivity, accuracy, and quality standards.
Maintain current knowledge of payer billing guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Protect patient privacy and confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.
At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle operations.
At least 1 year of hands-on experience working billing work queues in Epic Resolute (HB, PB, or both).
Working knowledge of:
UB-04 and CMS-1500 claim forms
CPT
HCPCS
ICD-10
Revenue codes
Experience with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care billing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience with clearinghouse platforms such as SSI.
Experience using payer portals such as Availity, Waystar, or Experian.
Experience supporting work queue builds, routing rules, or workflow redesign initiatives.
Epic Resolute Hospital Billing certification, proficiency, or credentialed training.
Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), or comparable certification.
Pharmacy Technician certification or license.
Experience with pharmacy-related billing workflows.
