Full Job Description

We are recruiting an Outside Sales Engineer for a well-established industrial equipment distributor serving customers throughout Howard County, Baltimore and the Washington, DC area. Full remote opportunity with travel.

This is an excellent opportunity to inherit an established customer base from a long-tenured salesperson who is preparing to retire. The position combines relationship-based sales, technical problem-solving and face-to-face interaction with industrial customers. There is limited cold calling, no routine overnight travel and no weekend travel.

What You’ll Do

Manage and grow an established territory of industrial and federal government accounts
Build long-term relationships with plant management, engineering, maintenance and purchasing teams
Sell industrial pumps, compressed-air systems, vacuum equipment, heat-transfer equipment, replacement parts and aftermarket services
Visit customers approximately two to four days per week once fully established
Evaluate customer applications and coordinate appropriate equipment recommendations
Prepare and follow up on quotations and proposals with support from an assigned inside salesperson
Collaborate with dedicated pump and compressed-air product specialists
Identify new equipment, replacement, repair, parts and service opportunities
Independently organize your customer schedule and territory coverage

What We’re Looking For

Experience selling, applying or supporting industrial equipment
Background with pumps, compressed-air systems, vacuum equipment, rotating equipment, fluid handling or related process equipment is strongly preferred
Experience calling on manufacturing plants, food-processing facilities, industrial operations or federal government accounts
Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, maintenance, operations, management and purchasing personnel
Strong relationship-building, follow-up and territory-management skills
Comfort working independently from a home office and traveling locally throughout the territory
Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not required

We are also open to applications engineers, inside sales engineers and product specialists who possess strong customer-facing skills and want to transition into outside sales.

Compensation and Benefits

Guaranteed earnings generally ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 during the initial 12-to-18-month ramp-up period
Uncapped commission potential after the ramp-up period
Established top performers earning approximately $125,000 to $160,000 annually

Additional Requirements

Must live within practical daily driving distance of Howard County, Baltimore and Washington, DC
Must maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, clean driving record and required automobile insurance
Must be able to pass reference checks, a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Must be able to meet federal facility identification and access requirements

This position is home-based, but it is not a nationwide remote opportunity. The selected candidate must live within the local territory and be available for regular face-to-face customer visits.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
