Job Summary

Explus, Inc is a custom museum fabrication company in Northern Virginia that houses a fully equipped production facility staffed with approximately 70 experienced, skilled technicians, talented artisans, and craftsmen. Explus offers a full range of in-house museum exhibit fabrication services including Project Management, Detailing, Scenic & Art Production, Exhibit Fabrication, Audio-Visual Systems Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Interactive Production, Artifact Mounting, and Exhibit Shipping & Installation. Our firm currently maintains a well-equipped metalworking department, full digital and traditional graphic capabilities, direct printing, nationally recognized artifact mounting, lighting and security specialists, electromechanical interactive technicians, in addition to its very experienced cadre of cabinetmakers and installation crews.

Providing comprehensive fabrication services for museums and corporations, we have an outstanding reputation for being problem solvers and find effective solutions to each technical, financial, and engineering challenge we encounter. Our projects include custom, permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits that cover subjects ranging from cultural, natural, and military history, science, and technology, to corporate, sports history and children’s environments.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape creative strategies, manage large-scale projects, and inspire teams to produce outstanding work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage cross-functional creative teams, including graphic designers, illustrators, motion graphics artists, and web designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Oversee the development of visual assets for marketing campaigns, digital platforms, print advertising, branding initiatives, and multimedia content.
Direct art direction for projects, ensuring consistency in style, tone, and messaging across all media channels.
Utilize graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) along with tools like Figma, Sketch, and InVision to create engaging layouts, illustrations, motion graphics, and prototypes.
Coordinate with marketing teams to develop cohesive branding strategies and visual storytelling that resonate with target audiences.
Manage multiple large-scale projects from conception through delivery while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
Ensure quality control by reviewing all creative outputs for technical accuracy, visual impact, and brand alignment; oversee print production processes when applicable.
Stay updated on industry trends in digital design, web development (including CSS), video production/editing, photography, and print techniques to continuously elevate the quality of work produced.

Experience

Proven experience managing graphic design or art teams within a fast-paced corporate or agency environment.
Extensive background in digital design, print advertising, branding, motion graphics, video content production, and web design.
Proficiency with graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; familiarity with Sketch, Figma, InVision is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of typography principles for media across various formats along with color theory application.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills to collaborate effectively with marketing strategists, developers, photographers, and external vendors.
Leadership skills with a track record of inspiring creative teams toward innovative solutions and professional growth.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Art preferred. Experience my substitute for Education.

Experience: 3 to 5 years experience in Graphic coordination.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Some knowledge of Graphic Design required. Must be able to read and interpret drawings

Computer Skills: Familiarity with Macintosh, Filemaker Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign.

JOB TASKS AND DUTIES:

Create Original Graphic Scope Matrix based on original bid and drawings.
Work with Detailing and Designer to finalize scope.
Organize graphic package in an easy-to-understand manner.
Work closely with the Project Manager and Detailer to make sure that each graphic element is developed correctly for size, position, and mounting specifications to match design and budget.
Check in and organize graphic files for production.
Compile Production Documents and Coordinate with Project Manager to schedule kickoff meeting.
Coordinate with Production Departments to ensure that plaques are cut in a timely manner to the correct size and from the correct material.
Track product flow from Kickoff to Shipping.
Ensure that installation team has all information required to install graphics onsite.
Provide backup support for Graphic Designer and AP Specialist when needed.
Other duties as requested by the Graphic Department Manager.
