Duties
- Play traditional hymns on the piano during our worship services and special events.
- Select appropriate hymn that align with the service theme and congregation needs.
- Accompany choir performances to create harmonious musical arrangements.
- Read sheet music fluently, improvise melodies, and harmonize with other musicians to enrich the musical experience.
- Maintain and tune the piano regularly; ensure all musical equipment is in optimal condition for performances.
- Contribute to the planning of music selection for weekly services, seasonal celebrations, and special occasions like weddings or memorials.
Qualifications
- Proven experience performing religious music in a liturgical setting; familiarity with hymnody and church traditions is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to read sheet music, improvise melodies, and harmonize with other musicians across various genres.
- Proficiency in playing the piano; experience with organ playing is a plus.
- Knowledge of musical liturgical practices for the Global Methodist Church and ability to select appropriate repertoire for different services.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team of musicians, choir members, and worship leaders.
