Overview
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in our treatment team, providing direct care and support to clients receiving substance abuse disorder treatment. The BHT works under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals to assist with implementing treatment plans, monitoring client progress, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

As a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), you are the heartbeat of the milieu, the staff member clients see most, lean on most, and remember most. You will provide direct support, safety monitoring, and daily structure while modeling healthy living and recovery in action.

This is a hands-on, on-your-feet role for someone who is steady, observant, compassionate, and genuinely excited to engage clients in the experiences that make recovery stick.

Golf is connected to our program, so a real interest in the game is a strong plus, whether you play or simply love being on the course and helping others learn. But golf is only the beginning. Our experiential calendar is built around the passions and talents of our team.

Your “plus one” matters. Tell us what you can teach:

Golf — playing, coaching, the short game, course etiquette, and the mental game
Racket sports — tennis, pickleball, and paddle
Fitness and movement — strength, mobility, run club, yoga, and hiking
Bodywork and wellness — massage, breathwork, and recovery modalities (with appropriate licensure)
Art — painting, ceramics, photography, and creative expression
Music — guitar, piano, songwriting, drum circle, and music appreciation
Anything else — cooking, gardening, surfing, woodworking, or whatever you know well enough to teach with passion

What You Will Do

Provide attentive supervision and support to clients throughout your shift, maintaining a safe, structured, therapeutic environment.
Lead and assist with experiential, recreational, and ancillary activities, including golf and your specialty area.
Conduct safety checks, document observations, and communicate clearly with the clinical and nursing teams.
Support clients through daily routines, transitions, and milestones with patience and encouragement.
Observe and assist with medication self-administration per facility protocol and DHCS regulations.
Transport clients to outings, appointments, and activities as needed.
Model healthy boundaries, recovery principles, and professional integrity at all times.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with DHCS standards.

Qualifications and DHCS Requirements

Required

Registration with a DHCS-recognized certifying organization — RADT (CCAPP), SUDRC (CADTP), or the equivalent through CAADE — or the ability to register within [30] days of hire. California does not license SUD counselors directly; DHCS requires registration through an approved certifying body, with full certification (CADC / SUDCC / CATC) completed within five years.
Commitment to complete the 80-hour core competency education within the first six months of registration (per AB 2473, effective January 1, 2026) and to maintain all required annual continuing education hours.
Current CPR / First Aid (BLS) certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start.
Negative TB test and successful background check / Live Scan clearance.
Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record (clients are transported).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm and present in a dynamic

Pay: $22.43 - $24.63 per hour
