The Global Transportation Senior Manager leads the development and execution of OTR’s global transportation strategy, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods across domestic and international markets. This role provides enterprise-level leadership across transportation operations, carrier management, freight procurement, logistics optimization, and continuous improvement, while advancing customer service, inventory, trade compliance, and financial objectives. The position partners closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to build and sustain a world-class transportation network.
Essential Functions:

o Develops and executes a global transportation strategy aligned with OTR’s growth agenda.
o Defines and implements long-range transportation road maps for domestic and international distribution.
o Identifies and prioritizes opportunities to improve service performance, reduce transportation costs, and increase network efficiency.
o Leads transportation network design and optimization initiatives across the enterprise.
- Carrier & Freight Management
o Builds and maintains strategic relationships with global ocean, air, rail, parcel, LTL, FTL, and intermodal carriers.
o Leads transportation sourcing events, carrier negotiations, and contract management activities.
o Evaluates carrier performance through scorecards, service-level metrics, and quarterly business reviews.
o Diversify the carrier portfolio to mitigate capacity, service, and geopolitical risk.
- Global Logistics Operations
o Provides oversight of daily transportation execution across all regions.
o Partners with business units and carriers to ensure reliable on-time pickup and delivery performance.
o Oversees freight planning, routing, shipment visibility, and exception management processes.
o Manages transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technology capabilities.
- Performance Management & Analytics
o Develops and tracks key SIOP metrics such as forecast accuracy, service levels, and inventory health.
o Provides executive reporting and insights to drive informed decision-making.
o Leverages data visualizations and analytics tools to communicate trends, risks, and opportunities.
o Develops and manages annual transportation budgets.
o Delivers freight savings through network optimization, modal conversion, and continuous improvement initiatives.
o Monitors freight spends against budget and provides executive-level reporting on performance trends.
o Analyzes transportation cost drivers and implements corrective actions to improve financial performance.
- International Trade & Compliance
o Ensures compliance with global import and export regulations.
o Oversees customs brokerage activities and related operational controls.
o Partners with Trade Compliance on tariffs, duties, Incoterms, and regulatory changes.
o Maintains compliance with government transportation regulations and security programs.
o Leads Lean and Six Sigma Initiatives within transportation operations.
o Leverages transportation analytics and KPIs to improve service, cost, and operational performance.
o Deploys best practices across global logistics operations.
o Drives automation and digital transformations across transportation processes.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. At times, the role will need to coordinate a group or a team in order to achieve company goals on an interim/project basis.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.
Physical Demands:
1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. In order to meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.
Travel:
There may be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it is related to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
· 10–15+ years of progressive transportation and logistics leadership experience.
· 5+ years leading global transportation operations.
· Experience managing annual transportation budgets exceeding $25M.
· Experience with international freight forwarding and customs operations.
· Strong knowledge of ocean freight, air freight, truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), rail, parcel, and intermodal transportation.
· Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
· Advanced analytical and financial capabilities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company.
· APICS certification or other related Supply Chain certifications
· Project Management experience.
· Manufacturing, distribution or global supply chain experience.
· Master’s degree in supply chain, Business Administration, or related field.
Preferred Certifications
· Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals SCPro™ certification.
· Association for Supply Chain Management Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
· Institute for Supply Management Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
