Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist/Patient Advocate to serve as the first point of contact for our healthcare facility. This vital role combines administrative support with patient advocacy, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from check-in to check-out. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical office procedures, and a compassionate approach to patient care. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a supportive healthcare environment while utilizing comprehensive medical administrative expertise.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and guiding them through the check-in and check-out process.
Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, answering inquiries, scheduling appointments, and directing calls appropriately.
Verify insurance information, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance verification processes using systems
Assist with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations while managing the clinic calendar efficiently.
Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, copying, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake processes and ensure smooth clinic operations.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), 10-key typing, and specialized dental or medical office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentalsoft.

Qualifications

Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting with strong clerical and front desk responsibilities.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management practices.
Excellent phone etiquette coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse patient populations.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and documentation review.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance in all aspects of patient information handling.
