POSITION DESCRIPTION
Primary Customers: Director of Nursing and Health Professions, Faculty, UBTech Students, and Community
Supervision Exercised: None
Reports To: Director of Nursing and Health Professions
Job Focus: Supports the College Mission and serves students, employers and the college community by preparing and providing relevant technical instruction. Under general supervision, prepares relevant curriculum for competency-based instruction in an open-entry/open-exit or lectured environment for a relevant technical field. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and college partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Current unrestricted State of Utah Registered Nursing license
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
3. Proficient computer skills
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain excellent customer relations
5. Successfully pass criminal background check
6. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
7. Valid driver’s license
Clinical Instructor Qualifications:
1. BLS for Health Care Providers Certification
2. Documentation of current immunizations and TB testing as required by facilities
Essential Duties and Performance Standards:
1. Encourage growth through industry connectivity
2. Prepare relevant curriculum for competency-based instruction in a structured clinical environment
3. Advise students, evaluate, and record student progress in attaining their goals and objectives
4. Maintain knowledge of current trends and development in the respective field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
5. Assist with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts
6. Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area
7. Foster a productive learning environment
8. Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits
9. Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports
10. Display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work, operate effectively within the organizational structure, demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior
11. Work cooperatively within the College community
12. Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Computer Skills: Operate student information software, spreadsheet software and word processing software
Certificates & Licenses: Unrestricted Utah State Registered Nursing license, current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must have open, positive communication skills with the ability to foster a productive learning environment. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, supervisors, partners, and the general public.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must have demonstrated critical thinking skills, and ability to research and recommend assessment strategies. Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships. Must have the ability to coordinate with academic and industry partners.
Work Environment: Typical hospital setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, but do require frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required for many tasks. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking.
Working Hours: This is an on-call clinical position. The employee will communicate with the program director or designee available shifts to cover clinical hours in designated city and facility, which will be relied upon in the event that a clinical instructor is unavailable for a scheduled shift. In order to maintain a clear understanding of the required duties, the on-call clinical instructor will meet with the faculty at least once each semester to review student expectations and procedures, as well as attendance and performance documentation.
This position is part-time, on-call/as-needed. This is a non-benefited position.
