Position Title: Maintenance Scheduler/CMMS
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor & Maintenance Director
Department: Maintenance
Hours per shift: Day shift Monday-Friday and must be available if needed on all shifts and or Holidays.
Wage: Lead Millwright Wage
Position Purpose: The Scheduler/CMMS’s main duties will include but are not limited to KPI Maintenance, Downtime Reporting, CMMS maintenance scheduling, and parts kitting for the Roseburg Studmill.
Position Functions:
Maintenance Scheduler/CMMS: Essential Functions*
These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job.
1. CMMS: This position will have the complete CMMS process assigned to them.
a. Print off PM’s: Assign them to the correct individuals and schedule work as needed.
b. Collect finished PM’s: Read through each one, then enter needed work by machine center and order parts as needed.
c. Turn into the main office to have them closed out.
d. Ensure PM’s are correct and up to date, reflecting the mill site’s current and future needs.
2. Scheduling: This individual will be responsible for scheduling all maintenance tasks.
a. Responsible for the daily work assignments dictated by the millwright follow up notes from their daily work log, PM’s, and generated work orders.
b. Assign work based on direction from either the maintenance superintendent, the maintenance supervisor, or a leader on site.
c. Schedule the longer maintenance windows between shifts in the sawmill for Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
d. Schedule the longer maintenance window at the Planer for Wednesday afternoon.
e. Schedule the weekend work.
3. Parts: This is person is responsible for around seventy-five percent of the parts ordering.
a. Based on needed maintenance or the results of the PM or finished work orders. Order the needed parts for upcoming work.
b. The larger parts, such as those needed from blueprints, larger hydraulic cylinders, etc. will be ordered by either the maintenance superintendent or maintenance supervisor.
4. Job Kitting: This individual will be responsible for kitting parts for each of the maintenance windows designated for maintenance to be performed.
a. Parts kitting will be conducted at the designated location to accumulate parts prior to scheduling the work.
b. Have designated tubs for each millwright: Place parts into the tubs for each job assigned to the millwright. Have all parts in each tub prior to the start of the maintenance window.
c. Project kitting: Set aside a pallet in the old planer for each project. Collect all the parts and place them onto the pallet for each designated job. Ensure all the parts are available prior to the start of the project.
i. At the Planer: Store the parts in the planer shop or outside the planer shop.
Facilitate maintenance activities in the plant utilizing preventative and predictive maintenance.
Ensure plant machinery is in a condition to attain 100% run time.
Support and promote all company safety policies for lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, hazardous materials handling, and SHARP compliance.
Work directly with the maintenance crew, maintenance supervisor, maintenance director, and outside vendors to provide seamless transition from project status to operating status of each project assigned.
Be a productive member of the site’s safety committee.
Monitor and report maintenance performance to maintenance director.
Support and participate in all company safety efforts.
Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
Provide honest and timely feedback to maintenance personnel through informal daily communications.
Troubleshoot issues and problem solve to reduce downtime.
Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions
These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.
Coordinate with the electrical department on any work which impacts them or work they are performing which impacts the millwrights.
Work with the maintenance supervisor on cleanup responsibilities: This includes the old planer building and bone yard.
- The old planer building: Ensure that any material placed in the building that is not a valid spare part is either placed in the metal bin, thrown away, or kept in the bone yard.
- The bone yard: Monitor the bone yard with the maintenance supervisor to coordinate the removal of outdated and non-used material.
Working Environment: (1) Entering enclosed areas, noisy environment, and dusty environment. Inside 90%, average temperature 70 degrees F (2) Outside 10%; extreme low temperature 10 degrees F, extreme hot temperature 105 degrees F. Noise or vibration: Machine noise to include machinery in operation as well as other machines close by including Forklifts. Hazards: See Job Hazard Analysis. (3) Atmospheric conditions: Fumes: Wood, Dust: Limited, Mist: Water, Odors: Wood particle, Gasses: None, Poor Ventilation: None
Personal Protective Equipment Required: (1) Eye Protection. (2) Hearing Protection. (3) Appropriate gloves for the material handled. (4) Approved Footwear.
Physical Demands: See the attached Job/Task Evaluation and Physical Capabilities portion; this position requires constant use of hearing and vision. Workers will bend, twist, squat, push/pull using waist, shoulders, arms, hands, and wrists to manipulate a variety of tools. Climb ladders, standing for long periods of time.
Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. This person must be able to communicate with co-worker’s face to face, via radio, email, and telephone. Basic computer skills and understanding, with a focus on the Computerized Maintenance Management System and M3.
Mental Demands: Organizing and coordinating schedules; analyzing and interpreting data; problem solving, completing written work orders. Must be able to concentrate in a noisy environment, deal with frequent interruptions, juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, exercise independent judgment, or perform other mental tasks.
Communication Skills: Interacts effectively with others to convey thoughts, ideas, and information; utilizes the power of positive persuasion to gain the support of others. Use vision/hearing continuously, reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, Machine Specific Lockout Procedures, monthly safety training topics, and Job Certification if applicable. Must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each.
Work and Education requirements: High School diploma or GED, valid driver’s license for the state of Oregon. Must be able to operate company forklifts.
Safety: (1) Complete only maintenance tasks you are trained to do and keep all body parts out of machinery. (2) Always use 14 step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason: be aware of stored energy. (3) Always use proper body mechanics (ex: do not overreach, get help as needed to push loads out). (4) Use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection). (5) Be aware of and always communicate with your co-workers (ex: forklift driver). (6) It is a requirement to read and write during safety training.
