We’re seeking an experienced accountant to oversee our accounting team in the role of Accounting Manager. The ideal candidates will have proved industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a senior role with annual revenues in excess of $50 million. As head of the accounting department, the Accounting Manager will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. You will produce through financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Objectives of this Role

· Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points

· Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape

· Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines

· Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action

· Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development

· Help develop and support short and long term operational strategies

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses

· Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations

· Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow

· Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

· Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments

· Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for Senior management and Board of Directors

· Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals

· Work with the Director Financial Planning and Analysis to provide financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and chief financial officer

· Interface with outside audit firm(s), banks and lessors, casualty /liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies

· Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors

· Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Accounting to all departments, creating a well-respected and sought after department goal

· Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity while providing a visionary and leadership role on behalf of accounting to all departments, creating a well-respected department

· Supervise certain Operations (including Computer Services and Building Maintenance)

· Other duties as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Candidates must possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role requires at least seven years of relevant experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minimum 3.0 GPA and professional accreditation as a certified accountant (CPA). Prefer candidates who have a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued. Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software in a $50million+ enterprise preferred. Maritime preferred but not required.
