Job Summary

Medical Office Specialist

France Avenue Family Physicians – Edina, MN

Must be able to work any 8 hour shift between 7am to 5:00pm. No nights/weekends.

France Avenue Family Physicians, a premier independent family medicine practice, has immediate openings for a full-time Medical Receptionist in Edina. We are a group of 9 providers with a wide range of special interests, but one common goal: Delivering the best health care to our patients.

Essential functions:

1. Greets patients/customers in a positive helpful manner. Provides directions, information, and other assistance as needed.

2. Greets patients and families to department, provides necessary forms to patient for completion and signature, reviews same for accuracy, and notifies staff that patient is ready.

3. Answers telephone calls, records messages for department personnel, schedules patient appointments and revises patient schedules for cancellations and so forth.

4. Schedules patients for follow-up appointments, surgical procedures and/or appointments in other clinics, and provides patients with basic information on referral physicians and other facilities for further care.

5. Types various forms, makes copies of material and includes proper patient data in order to maintain necessary information.

6. Maintains adequate levels of necessary office supplies.

7. Perform various duties for department such as collecting payments and providing receipts, generating fee slips for appointments according to prescribed procedures, and reviewing for accuracy.

8. Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPPA policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and courteously with caller, patients and families, exchange patient relation information with a variety of clinic personnel, and interacts effectively with physicians.

2. Analytical skills necessary in order to schedule return appointments and laboratory and radiology orders, and prepare routine schedule and reports.

3. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when reviewing patient data in computer system, entering appointments and so forth.

4. Knowledge of facility and surrounding facilities to assist or direct patients to other locations.

5. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
