Full Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference in the lives of students by bridging communication and supporting academic success as a Sign Language Interpreter. Two positions are currently open to support school-aged students in inclusive educational settings. This is a rewarding contract opportunity for professionals passionate about providing essential communication access in educational environments.

Qualifications & Experience:

Proficient with American Sign Language (ASL) and able to interpret fluently.
Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or similar setting is highly valued.
Strong understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to diverse student needs.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
Certification or relevant credentials in Sign Language Interpreting preferred.
Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to changing learning environments.

Available Opportunities:

Position 1:

Serve at the high school level.
Support students and staff for 35 hours per week.
Typical hours are 8:00 AM – 3:45 PM.

Position 2:

Work with elementary students.
30 hours weekly, scheduled between 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
Initial placement in Oroville, with a transition to Roseville for the next school year.

Responsibilities:

Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students, educators, and staff.
Foster inclusive participation in classroom lessons, discussions, and extracurricular activities.
Support individualized education plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Encourage student engagement and facilitate effective communication across all school settings.
Maintain professionalism and uphold ethical standards at all times.
