Title: Program Coordinator of Prevention Services
Status: Non-exempt, Full-time
Reports to: Program Manager of Prevention Services
THE POSITION
The Program Coordinator of Prevention Services oversees mental health and wellness programs, as well as DOA prevention and advocacy. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality program implementation, supporting compliance with contractual requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with community partners. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with leadership to ensure programs are delivered effectively, meet performance outcomes, and align with PRO Youth and Families’ mission.
RESPONISIBILITIES
- Maintain daily detailed communication with supervisor via the utilization of Teams chat, email, excel documentation, and calendar documentation.
- Maintain detailed and thorough communication with program participants, partners and clients, while accommodating communication modes.
- Maintain a record of communication with all external parties.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, community partners, leaders, systems, and youth.
- Maintain rapport and build new partnerships with youth serving systems.
- Represent the agency at community meetings and events in a professional manner.
- Implement direct services of assigned program including recruitment / outreach, facilitation and planning of program meetings and supervision of youth participants.
- Present program curriculum for assigned program(s) which will include the following topics: healthy relationships. substance use prevention, mental health and wellness, workforce readiness, mentorship, etc.
- Develop and implement various projects in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, community partners, leaders, parents, school administration, and youth.
- Make appropriate referrals for students and their families for community resources.
- Implement program evaluation and monitoring tasks as identified.
- Administer student information database and completes required reports.
- Represent the agency at community meetings and events in a professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in program coordination preferred.
- Experience working in prevention, behavioral health, youth services, or community-based programs.
- Experience working in both policy-driven and site-based program environments.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Evidence-based prevention and advocacy practices related to substance use, wellness, and behavioral health
- Issues impacting at-risk youth and families, including substance use, cultural considerations, and community disparities
- Program implementation, monitoring, and outcome measurement
- Child development, parenting education, and healthy relationship principles
- Community-based service delivery models and partnership development
- Basic principles of program evaluation and data collection
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective classroom management
- Facilitation of curriculum
- Group dynamics and communication
- Thorough knowledge of general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated Ability:
- Communicate and work effectively with program staff, requiring tact, diplomacy, discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
- Analyze situations and carry out appropriate and effective action based on established procedures.
- Work independently, set priorities, develop goals and actively seek out program resources.
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Initiate work and projects with minimal direction.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills that simplify and easily communicate concepts and issues.
- Work efficiently and effectively in a team environment as well as independently as a self-starter.
- Ability to apply critical thinking while executing transactions and tasks.
- Manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines simultaneously.
- Bilingual skills are appreciated but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Capable of providing Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Complete and pass background screening.
- Possess a Valid California Driver's license and evidence of insurance coverage.
- Regular TB screening.
- This role qualifies as a mandated reporter, training for which will be provided.

- This is sedentary work in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, talk, hear, reach above and below shoulders; use hand and finger dexterity, keyboarding and making and receiving telephone calls. The employee may be required on occasion to lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
LOCATION AND HOURS
Our typical business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. This position requires flexibility to meet organizational needs. Availability outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to support operations, events, or urgent matters.
This position is based in our Sacramento offices with an expectation of regular in-person presence to support our team, operations, and program development. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be approved on an individual basis, aligned with organizational needs and leadership approval.
