Help Build Our In-House Ultrasound Program
Modern Family Medicine is a growing, physician-owned primary care practice expanding our in-house diagnostic imaging services. We are looking for an experienced Cardiac & Vascular Ultrasound Technologist who is excited to help establish and grow our ultrasound program.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sonographer who enjoys working in a collaborative outpatient setting and wants to be part of a practice that is continuing to expand. We are looking for someone interested in a long-term partnership as additional services and locations are added.
Position Details
This position will begin as a PRN / Part-Time role.
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM.
Initially, the schedule will be:
- One day every other week in Duluth
- One day every other week in Roswell
As patient demand increases, this schedule is expected to expand to:
- One day every week in Duluth
- One day every week in Roswell
Additional clinic days and hours may be added as our ultrasound program continues to grow.
To maximize efficiency, we will schedule ultrasound appointments back-to-back on your assigned clinic day whenever possible. If all scheduled patients are completed early and there are no additional ultrasound appointments, you may leave for the day. Alternatively, if preferred, we can maintain a consistent scheduled workday each clinic to provide predictability for both you and our patients.

Applicants should live within approximately 20–30 minutes of both office locations.
Reliable transportation is required.
Ultrasound Services Performed Initially
We are currently offering:
- Adult Transthoracic Echocardiograms (Echo)
- Carotid Duplex Ultrasound
- Upper Extremity Arterial Duplex Ultrasound
- Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex Ultrasound
Future Growth
As our diagnostic imaging program expands, we plan to add:
- Abdominal Ultrasound
- Renal Artery Duplex Ultrasound
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening
- Venous Duplex Ultrasound
- Additional vascular imaging services
Experience with these studies is preferred but not required.
Equipment
Our practice currently has an echocardiography ultrasound machine and is expanding our vascular capabilities by adding the appropriate vascular probe for carotid and peripheral arterial studies.
Candidates who already own a portable ultrasound machine or additional ultrasound equipment are highly encouraged to apply. While not required, this is considered a valuable asset and may create opportunities for expanded services and additional hours.
ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic Imaging
- Perform high-quality adult echocardiograms
- Perform carotid duplex examinations
- Perform upper and lower extremity arterial duplex studies
- Obtain complete diagnostic images following established protocols
- Recognize abnormal findings and obtain additional views when appropriate
- Prepare technical worksheets for physician interpretation
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and quality assurance standards
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Ensure excellent patient care and safety throughout examinations
Clinical Team Support
As a growing physician-owned practice, ultrasound volume will gradually increase over time.
When there are no ultrasound patients scheduled, the Ultrasound Technologist will be expected to assist our Medical Assistants with appropriate clinical duties, including:
- Rooming patients
- Obtaining vital signs
- Performing EKGs
- Assisting with point-of-care testing
- Preparing examination rooms
- Stocking medical supplies
- Cleaning and turning over patient rooms
- Assisting providers as needed
- Supporting clinic workflow and patient flow
We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and is willing to help wherever needed to provide exceptional patient care.
QualificationsRequired
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Current ARDMS and/or CCI certification
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound experience
- Experience performing adult echocardiograms
- Experience performing carotid duplex ultrasound
- Experience performing peripheral arterial duplex ultrasound
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Reliable transportation
- Willingness to work at both office locations
Preferred
- RDCS certification
- RVT certification
- Experience with abdominal ultrasound
- Experience with renal artery duplex
- Experience in an outpatient physician office
- Medical Assistant experience
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
- Ownership of a portable ultrasound machine or additional diagnostic ultrasound equipment
