The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
This is a full-time faculty appointment, 9/10-month contract. This position is responsible for serving as the on-campus didactic, lab, and off-site clinical instructor/coordinator for nursing assisting students. Classes will meet face-to-face during the daytime, with possible evening courses in the fall and spring. Summer adjunct opportunities may also be available. The faculty member will oversee the supervision and education of nursing assisting students, guiding them in the application of classroom and on-campus lab skills in clinical settings. Responsibilities include developing and revising curriculum to meet professional and educational standards, providing academic advising to nursing and nursing assisting students, and participating in faculty, departmental, and campus meetings. Additional duties may include serving on university committees, handling assignments as designated by the Director of Nursing Education and/or the Dean of Health Sciences, and addressing concerns or complaints alongside students, faculty and staff. Faculty members are expected to be thoroughly familiar with the current catalog to assist students with accurate course scheduling and degree planning in collaboration with Student Affairs. A commitment to ongoing professional development is essential, as is a genuine interest in teaching and advancing the quality of education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach Nursing Assisting classes and assist in coordinating adjunct faculty teaching Nursing Assisting courses. The typical teaching load for full-time faculty is 15 semester hours (or equivalent) per semester, with a minimum of ten posted office hours per week.
Develop syllabi in accordance with the ENMU-Roswell Health Science Center’s standardized course syllabus. When multiple sections of a course are offered, the full-time lead faculty will distribute a common syllabus to adjunct faculty.
Maintain accurate attendance records and follow appropriate procedures for reporting grades (mid-term and final), ensuring that grades reflect students' achievement and performance in alignment with the course syllabus.
Foster a dynamic learning environment that promotes student engagement in both face-to-face and online classrooms. Utilize a motivational presentation style and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Develop and administer comprehensive final exams that assess students' achievement of course objectives.
Participate in professional activities, including serving on campus and/or community committees, attending faculty meetings, in-service events, and retention meetings.
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing Education, Dean of Health Sciences, and Administrative Support to develop class schedules and manage textbook orders for fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Attend graduation ceremonies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
One year of nursing experience in an acute care or long-term care setting.
Meet all qualifications established by the New Mexico Board of Nursing.
Hold a current, unencumbered registered nurse license in New Mexico in good standing.
Meet all institutional and clinical partner regulatory qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience in long-term care settings.
Administrative or supervisory experience.
Prior nursing assisting teaching experience.
Experience with educational learning management systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Strong commitment to student learning, integrating technology into the curriculum, and fostering an engaged learning environment.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed during normal business hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required to meet deadlines.

The work is primarily sedentary, but may occasionally require exerting up to 40 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

Insurance for Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell is offered through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority. High coverage and low coverage options are offered for medical and dental insurance so employees can choose the plan that's right for them.

Health insurance is offered through both Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and the Presbyterian Health Plan
Dental insurance is offered through United Concordia.
Vision insurance is offered through Davis Vision.

Retirement

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell participates with the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB), Social Security, and Medicare.

The University also offers supplemental retirement plans. 403b plans are available through TIAA/CREF, AIG VALIC, and MetLife. 475b plans are offered through TIAA/CREF.

Paid Time Off

Leave accrual rates are determined by employee class (At-Will/Professional & Faculty - exempt or Support – non-exempt) and years of employment. See below for specific accruals for each employee class.

As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to accrue leave.

Faculty Paid Time Off

Medical leave is accrued 48 hours in the Fall and 48 hours in the Spring.
Personal Leave - Five personal work days each academic year and two work days during the summer. Only regular faculty will be eligible for personal leave. Personal leave will not accumulate from academic year to academic year.

Support Paid Time Off

During the first year of service, full time non-exempt (hourly) employees accrue 7 hours of annual leave and 7 hours of medical leave per month.
The second year of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of medical leave per month.
The third and subsequent years of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month.
Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave.
Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.

Professional/ At-will Paid Time Off

Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month.
Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave.
Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.

Employee Educational Assistance Plan

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell offers a tuition waiver for permanent, full-time and part-time regular employees and retirees. Employees can take up to 9 credit hours on the Roswell campus. Their IRS dependents are not restricted in the number of credit hours they can take. For detailed information reference 40.9 Educational Assistance Program.

For classes offered by ENMU in Portales, the Portales campus will waive some tuition for either the employee or spouse, dependents, as defined by the I.R.S., are not eligible for tuition waivers for classes taken through the Portales campus.

Additional course fees will still need to be paid by the employee.

As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to recieve the tutiion wavier.
