Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Dean of Nursing, the Adjunct Faculty member for the Online RN-to-BSN Program provides high-quality, student-centered online nursing education in assigned courses.
The Adjunct Faculty member facilitates achievement of course and end-of-program student learning outcomes through evidence-based teaching, meaningful faculty-student interaction, assessment and evaluation, and effective use of instructional technology. The faculty member participates in course and curriculum evaluation, assessment of student learning, and continuous program improvement consistent with College policies, applicable regulatory requirements, and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Standards and Criteria.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from an appropriately accredited institution required; doctoral degree in nursing or a related field preferred.

Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and consistent with assigned teaching responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements.

Minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience or equivalent experience appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities.

Educational and experiential qualifications appropriate to assigned faculty responsibilities.

Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate nursing or RN-to-BSN program preferred.

Online or distance nursing education experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching, student assessment and evaluation, and contemporary professional nursing practice.

Proficiency with learning management systems and instructional technology; Canvas experience preferred.

Ability to effectively teach and support students from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds.

Familiarity with ACEN Standards and Criteria, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement preferred.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, oral, and technological communication skills.

TRAVEL: This position is primarily online. Attendance at Quincy College locations for orientation, required meetings, faculty development, training, assessment activities, or other program responsibilities may be required.

Curriculum & Instruction
- Teach assigned Online RN-to-BSN courses in accordance with approved curriculum, course student learning outcomes, and end-of-program student learning outcomes.

Use evidence-based, student-centered instructional strategies appropriate for online nursing education.

Maintain regular and substantive faculty presence and promote active student engagement.

Integrate current nursing standards, evidence-based practice, professional competencies, and healthcare trends into instruction.

Participate, as assigned, in course and curriculum review, evaluation, and revision.
Student Assessment & Success
- Assess student achievement using established evaluation methods and criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Maintain accurate attendance, participation, assignment, and grade records.

Monitor student progress, provide academic guidance, and refer students to appropriate College resources.

Promote an inclusive learning environment that supports student engagement, persistence, and academic success.
Program Assessment & Accreditation
- Participate in assessment and evaluation of student learning and program outcomes.

Maintain required course documentation for program evaluation, continuous improvement, regulatory requirements, and accreditation.

Participate, as assigned, in curriculum evaluation and ACEN accreditation activities.

Use assessment findings to support continuous improvement of courses and student learning.
Faculty Responsibilities & Professional Development
- Maintain current RN licensure and qualifications appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities.

Complete required adjunct faculty orientation, mentoring, training, and professional development.

Maintain current expertise in nursing practice, evidence-based teaching, online education, and student assessment and evaluation.

Participate in faculty evaluation processes in accordance with College and Nursing Program policies.
Faculty Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with nursing faculty and program leadership in the implementation, evaluation, and improvement of assigned courses.

Maintain regular and effective communication with students, nursing faculty, program leadership, and appropriate College personnel.

Participate in faculty, course, program, and assessment meetings as required by the adjunct assignment.

Support student learning, academic integrity, retention, progression, and completion.

Demonstrate professionalism, collegiality, accountability, and commitment to the mission and philosophy of Quincy College and the Nursing Program.
Online Education & Technology
- Demonstrate proficiency in Canvas and other College-approved instructional technologies.

Maintain assigned online courses in accordance with College and Nursing Program standards.

Use educational technology to facilitate meaningful faculty-student and student-student interaction.

Monitor the online learning environment regularly and respond to student communications within established expectations.

Apply best practices for accessible, inclusive, and effective online education.

Protect student privacy and confidentiality in all online communications and course activities.
