MARVEL Center is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate Assistant Director to help lead our growing early childhood education program. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operations of a childcare center while supporting teachers, building relationships with families, and ensuring a high-quality learning environment.
The Assistant Director works closely with the Executive Director to oversee daily operations, support staff, maintain licensing compliance, and help create a positive culture where children, families, and employees can thrive.
What You'll Do
- Lead the daily operations of the childcare program.
- Supervise, coach, and support teachers and staff.
- Ensure classrooms maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios and comply with all licensing requirements.
- Assist with staff scheduling and classroom coverage.
- Step into classrooms as needed to support teachers and children.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Address concerns professionally while maintaining consistency and accountability.
- Help monitor curriculum implementation and classroom quality.
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and program requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Director regarding center operations and staffing needs.

Technology Skills
Technology is an important tool in helping our center operate efficiently. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable using computers, enjoys learning new technology, and is willing to help troubleshoot basic technology issues. While this role is primarily focused on leading our childcare program, the ideal candidate embraces technology as a way to improve communication, organization, and daily operations.
Experience with the following is preferred:
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail)
- Microsoft Office
- Email communication
- Childcare management software such as Procare
- Online licensing and training systems
- Basic spreadsheets and electronic recordkeeping
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred).
- Minimum of three years of experience in a licensed childcare program.
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and classroom best practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
