Full Job Description

Avam is seeking a resourceful, collaborative, and growth-minded Group HR Generalist to support our expanding organization and help shape the future of our people operations.

Working across Avam at the group level, you will oversee core HR functions—including employment compliance, payroll, employee relations, HR systems, policies, and workforce support—while partnering with leadership on broader people strategy. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership, improve how we operate, and build the foundation for a scalable HR function.

The position is designed for an HR professional who is ready to broaden their leadership experience. As Avam grows, the successful candidate will have significant opportunities to progress into an HR Manager and, over time, an HR Director role.

What you’ll do
HR operations and compliance:

Manage day-to-day HR activities across Avam and its group businesses, providing consistent, practical, and responsive support.
Maintain compliance with applicable employment laws, payroll requirements, workplace regulations, and internal policies.
Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into clear processes, policies, and guidance.
Maintain accurate employee records, personnel documentation, handbooks, and required notices.
Support employment matters including hiring documentation, classifications, leave administration, accommodations, performance concerns, investigations, and separations.
Identify compliance risks and work with leadership and external advisors to address them proactively.

Payroll, benefits, and systems

Own or coordinate payroll processing across the group, ensuring timely and accurate pay, deductions, reimbursements, and reporting.
Review payroll information, resolve discrepancies, and maintain appropriate controls and documentation.
Partner with finance, payroll providers, benefits brokers, and other vendors.
Support benefits administration, employee enrollment, renewals, employee questions, and related compliance requirements.
Help evaluate and improve HR and payroll systems as the organization scales.
Build reliable reports and dashboards that give leadership visibility into headcount, turnover, compensation, payroll, and other workforce trends.

Employee experience and organizational support

Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, balancing empathy, sound judgment, confidentiality, and business needs.
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding to create an organized and positive employee experience.
Support performance management, employee development, engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives.
Coach managers on effective communication, documentation, feedback, and people-management practices.
Help foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive workplace across the group.
Support recruiting and workforce planning as business needs evolve.

HR strategy and growth

Partner with senior leaders to connect people priorities with Avam’s business strategy.
Develop scalable HR policies, processes, and programs that can support multiple businesses and continued growth.
Identify opportunities to strengthen organizational structure, leadership capability, compensation practices, succession planning, and workforce development.
Bring forward recommendations—not just issues—and help turn decisions into effective action.
Gradually assume broader ownership of the HR function, with the opportunity to build a team and advance into HR Manager and Director-level leadership.

What we’re looking for

Approximately 2+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a growing, multi-entity, multi-location, or operationally complex organization.
Working knowledge of employment compliance, payroll administration, employee relations, benefits, and HR operations.
Experience independently managing sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A practical, solutions-oriented approach and the confidence to make thoughtful recommendations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, executives, and external partners.
Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where processes are evolving and initiative is valued.
Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, benefits, and standard business software.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is valued but not required.
