Relocation Assistance Available
We are seeking a Lead CNC Plasma/Laser Programmer to join our team in Ruston, LA. This role is responsible for programming and operating burn table equipment, ensuring high-quality production, maintaining tight tolerances, and leading operators within a fast-paced sheet metal manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong CNC plasma/laser experience, nesting software knowledge, and the ability to support workflow, quality, and production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Program and operate CNC plasma and laser burn table equipment
Review blueprints, drawings, and bill of materials to determine material and equipment requirements
Set up machines and ensure parts are cut accurately and within required tolerances
Maintain and troubleshoot burn table equipment as needed
Use forklifts and cranes to load and unload materials safely
Perform deburring and finishing work using hand and power tools
Train and support operators across all skill levels
Coordinate workflow priorities with production and department leadership
Assist with department scheduling, productivity, and budget support
Lead by example in safety, quality, and overall team performance
Support performance feedback and employee development with Production Manager
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
5+ years of CNC plasma/laser programming and burn table operation experience
Strong experience with burn table programming and nesting software (Sigma Nest, Messer, Amada, or similar)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and bills of material
Experience maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards in manufacturing
Prior leadership or lead operator experience preferred
Forklift certification required
AutoCAD experience preferred
Strong math, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
