Full Job Description

Payroll Tax Manager

Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid)

TFI International is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Manager to lead payroll tax compliance across our multi-state operations. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll tax regulations, oversee tax filings and audits, drive process improvements, and lead payroll tax operations while partnering with teams across Payroll, HR, Finance, and Legal.

What You'll Do

Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, deposits, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with changing payroll tax laws and regulations.
Manage payroll tax audits, agency notices, and regulatory inquiries.
Review payroll tax reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Oversee W-2, W-3, quarter-end, and year-end payroll tax activities.
Manage relationships with tax vendors, including ADP SmartCompliance.
Ensure payroll systems and tax configurations remain compliant and up to date.
Develop and maintain payroll tax procedures, controls, and documentation.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve accuracy.
Support acquisitions, entity integrations, and new state tax registrations.
Lead, mentor, and develop Payroll Tax Analysts while ensuring critical deadlines are met.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of payroll tax experience supporting multi-state payroll operations.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Experience managing payroll tax audits, reconciliations, filings, and agency correspondence.
Experience with ADP SmartCompliance, ADP Vantage, Workday, or similar payroll platforms.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
Leadership experience managing or mentoring payroll tax professionals.
CPP or FPC certification preferred.
