Purchasing Agent

A Purchasing Agent has many responsibilities beyond the company's supply chain strategy. They must ensure supplier-provided materials acceptable quality regulations and work closely with warehouse managers to ensure inventory is always at optimal levels. Too much stock can impact cash flow; too little inventory, risks delaying projects which also brings substantial costs. Purchasing Agents will work closely with the Purchasing Manager to continually negotiate better prices, service, and delivery deals with suppliers and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

Identifying what goods, services and material are needed for construction projects
Developing and implementing procurement strategies and policies
Negotiating with suppliers to secure advantageous terms
Reviewing, comparing, and analyzing products and services to be purchased
Managing relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Preparing and managing the procurement department budget
Overseeing the delivery of purchased goods to ensure timely and accurate delivery
Managing and resolving any issues with supplies and suppliers
Ensuring adherence to all safety, quality, and compliance regulations
Complete other tasks assigned

Qualifications

3 years experience in procurement in a similar industry (preferred)
Proven working experience in procurement or related experience
Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market
Talent in negotiations and networking
Good knowledge of supplier or third-party management software
Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
Experience in collecting and analyzing data
Strong leadership capabilities
BS or AA degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or a related field
