WHO YOU ARE:
You are a strategic risk and compliance leader who drives enterprise fraud governance by performing risk assessments, identifying gaps, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and audit requirements. You are a trusted advisor and business partner who collaborates across Fraud, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and senior leadership to strengthen controls, resolve issues, and support sound business decisions. You are a data-driven influencer and program owner who transforms complex information into actionable insights, develops policies and reporting frameworks, and leads continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and compliance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Plan and prepare all formal risk assessment reports for Enterprise Fraud. Work with Enterprise Fraud, Compliance and Risk to gather information and data to include in the reporting.
- Conduct gap analysis for formal Risk Assessments and all applicable reporting with Enterprise Fraud. Prepare tracking, steps for resolving the gaps and reporting on resolving the gaps as appropriate.
- Create/Lead new risk assessment development as required by internal/external auditors and/or Risk. Complete research to create risk statements, gather data and understand functionality in Enterprise Fraud to prepare the baseline for the report.
- As a part of the Compliance Program, assist responsible management with the development of their documented management-monitoring program designed to proactively identify improvement opportunities to support ongoing compliance.
- Create/Lead new governing Corporate and Board policies/programs as required by Senior Management, and internal/external auditors. Conduct regulation research to include applicable information in the policy/program. Coordinate with Enterprise Fraud to gather information on functionality as applicable. Coordinate approvals from appropriate Senior Management, Committee(s) and the Board.
- Conduct and coordinate the review of all Enterprise Fraud policies annually.
- Oversee the management of division procedures and member communications.
- Liaise with Internal/External Audit, Corporate Compliance, General Counsel and Risk Management to remediate new and outstanding issues.
- Provide advice in relation to governance, risk, and compliance to Enterprise Fraud.
- Use computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, desktop publishing, word processing, and statistical applications to manipulate, analyze and present data.
- Study current literature on research methodology and make appropriate recommendations for departmental improvements.
- Oversee the preparation of informational reports for varying levels of the organization as needed, which may include information such as velocity, heat mapping, geolocation fraud trends, as well as other information that can be used for departmental progress and issue identification purposes.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws, appropriate to the position.
- Participate in projects, as needed and upon completion of projects, assist with training as necessary with all levels of staff and management.
- Maintain confidentiality of reporting and departmental processes, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all levels of management, peers, and subordinates, internal and externally with peers and vendors to accomplish credit union strategic goals.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICIATIONS AND PREFERENCES:
- Associate’s Degree required or
- Bachelor’s Degree business administration required
- Commensurate experience in business communications, analysis and/or regulatory compliance preferred
- 7+ years or more related experience with disciplines as noted above with emphasis on regulatory compliance, project management, customer service, branch operations, complaint resolution and problem-solving. Experience in performing trend analysis, particularly as it relates to fraud trends, is desirable. required
- 3+ years risk management and governance experience required required
